Big Bird: Great!
Mr. Snuffleupagus: But I don't have an invitation. What if the party hosts get angry because somebody they didn't invite came to the party?
Big Bird: Oh, gee. I never thought of that. Well, I'll go and ask if you can come. You stay right there, I'll be back. (leaves)

Big Bird: Is it okay if Mr. Snuffleupagus comes to the party?
Gordon: Mr. Snuffleupagus?
Susan: You mean your imaginary friend?
Maria: Just what we need. An imaginary party guest.
Big Bird: But Mr. Snuffleupagus is not....
Gordon: Look, Big Bird, if he is real like you say he is, then he can come.
Big Bird: Thanks.
Gordon: But only if he is real.
Big Bird: Oh, he's real, and he will come. (leaves)

Big Bird: I've got some good news, Snuffy. You can come!
Mr. Snuffleupagus: Oh, that's good. (sneezes) But I can't come to the party. I am starting to feel sick.
Big Bird: Oh, that's too bad.
Mr. Snuffleupagus: Than ks, anyway, bird. (leaves, and sneezes)
Big Bird: Well, I guess I'll just have to attend the party without him.

Bert: This is such a great party.
Ernie: Of course it is. I like the cake.
Cookie Monster: I like the COOKIES!
The Amazing Mumford: I am now going to perform my floating cake trick.
Grover: Oh boy, I can not wait to see it done.
The Amazing Mumford: Okay, here it goes. A la peanut butter sandwhiches!
(However, instead of the cake floating, Grover floats instead)
Grover: Uh, Mumfy...
The Amazing Mumford: (oblivious to Grover floating) Something is wrong. I'll try it again....
Grover: (floating above the cake) Uh, Mumfy, look up...
The Amazing Mumford: ....A la peanut butter sandwhiches!
(Grover suddenly falls down into the cake)
Grover: Oh, I am so embarrassed.
The Amazing Mumford: What are you doing in the cake?
(Don Music is at the piano)
Don Music: Hey, everybody, it's time for my new song.
Bob: Oh, great, let's hear it.
Mr. MacIntosh: Yeah!
Bert: I would love to hear it.
Don Music: Okay, here it goes. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dea... dea... oh, I'll never get it right! (bangs head on the piano)
Kermit: What seems to be the problem, Don?
Don Music: I can't think of a word that rhymes with "you".
Bert: Well, I like songs that don't have rhymes in them.
Bob: Yeah, not all songs have to rhyme.
Don Music: They don't?
All: No.
Don Music: Okay, then, "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy... happy..." Oh, I'll stil never get it right! (bangs head on piano)
Kermit: Oh, you're still stuck, huh?
Grover: Hey, froggy babyyyyyy!! (slaps Kermit on the back) How are you enjoying the party, froggy?
Kermit: Uh, in pain.
Grover: Oh.
Mr. Hooper: I like all of the food here.
Cookie Monster: Me, too.
Susan: Well, I am glad you like it here.
Olivia; You and Gordon didn't do too bad of a job.
Susan: Thanks.
Little Bird: I like the birdseed.
Big Bird: Me too.
Gladys: I can't stand birdseed. Can I have a doughnut?
Herry: I don't know, can you? (chuckels)
Simon Soundman: Well, I like everything about this party. It's certainly better than the party I went to last week.
Luis: Really. What was wrong with it?
Simon Soundman: Well, it was ona very noisy (makes loud train sound), and there were too many meow's and woof-woofs on the (makes train sound). And I kept hearing soem strange (makes explosion sound) sound. And the (makes fire alarm sound) kept going off. This is a better party. Much, much better.
Ernie: I wish I could understand.
Susan: Oh no.
Gordon: What's wrong?
Susan: The cake is too burnt.
(everyone moans)
Grover: That sure is terrible.
Kermit: You can say that again.
Grover: That sure is terrible.
Biff: Well, you can just make anothe rcake, right?
Gordon: Of course we can.
Prairie Dawn: That's good to know.
Willy: Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't we take that cake to Oscar?
Mr. Hooper: What a great idea.
(fade to outside of the apartment, where Oscar is enjoying time without the others)
Oscar: Well, I sure am glad that I didn't go to that party. There would have been too much happiness. And everybody else is gone. There's nobody here to bother me. That's good. But it's also bad, as there is nobody for me to yell at. Oh, why didn't I go to that party?
(Susan, Gordon, Olivia, Mr. Hooper, Linda, and Bob all come out with the cake)
Gordon: Oh, hi, Oscar.
Oscar: Oh, great, here come some people.
Mr. Hooper: We thought that you might like this cake.
Oscar: Oh.
Bob: Yeah, it was burnt.
Oscar: (sniffs) Oh, and it smells so great. Give me that cake!
Gordon: Okay.
(LInda uses sign language to get everybody's attention)
Bob: Oh, wait, Linda is trying to tell us something.
(the adults all gather around, Linda being blocked from Oscar's view, and the others whisper)
Gordon: That's a good idea.
Mr. Hooper: Yeah.
Olivia: Of course.
(they all go to Oscar's can with the cake)
Mr. Hooper: Oscar, here is your cake.
Oscar: Give it to me!
(they dumpt the cake on Oscar, and all have a laugh)
Oscar: Wow! This really is a good cake.
Susan: We are so glad that you like it.
Oscar: I am going to go down into my can and get dirtier.
(goes into can, closes lid. Big Bird walks outside the building)
Big Bird: Well, I've got to go.
Susan: Why, Big Bird?
Big Bird: I'm going to go check on Mr. Snuffleupagus.
Olivia: How typical. He leaves a party to see his sick imaginary friend.
Bob: Well, good luck, Big Bird.
Gordon: Thanks for comming to the party.
(they all go inside)
Big Bird: Well, I'm going to see Snuffy, but before I go, I'd like to let you know that Sesame Street was brought to you today by the letters Y and Z, and by the number 12.
Bob: Yeah.
