The "What Made You Smile Today?" thread

Longing for the days of yore when the Muppets didn't rely on chromakey almost exclusively to do full-bodied shots.

This was actually yesterday, but when I was at the chiropractor, SST and the Muppets actually came up in conversation.

I was wearing my "I Was Raised On The Street" t-shirt that seems to always draw attention, and while I was in the fitness room, one of the instructors was asking how long SST has been around, thinking at least since they 80s, I told him, "Nope, since 69". He was like, "No way!", and both myself and this old codger next to me chimed in with, "Way." The old codger even added that Mister Rogers has been around almost as long as television itself. I went on to also mention how it wasn't until years later in 1976 that TMS finally got on the air; the instructor mentioned it had been a long time since he watched the Muppets, he tried to recall MTI, remembering Miss Piggy, while the old codger added, "Miss Piggy has issues".

We're going fly fishing next week and I found out today that I won't have to miss Kung Fu to go.

Got to have quality time with my younger brother watching the Bela Lugosi Universal version of Dracula and playing checkers.

I had my last-ever undergraduate class today. Just an exam, a paper revision and a performance away.

Don't know that I'm smiling yet, but I definitely will be when this sinks in.

Today the women in the office took me to lunch at Jason's Deli for my birthday. It's a few days early--my birthday is Wednesday the 25th--but I won't be in the main office then.

Jason's Deli is the bomb.

Weird day at work today. The afternoon was interrupted by a fire drill. Had to walk down 11 flights of stairs, then down a long, winding, narrow tunnel that looked like Pyramid Head's stomping grounds. Then we had to wait outside the building in the wind. Grumble grumble. And there were Dasani and Good Humor carts there. They must have known about this ahead of time and were preying on a captive audience, grumble grumble. Wait...they're giving away ice cream and bottled water? Free? Suddenly it became the most awesome fire drill ever.

Where do you work? That sounds cool.

I work at the US SEC, Atlanta office.

What made me smile today?

1. Pie

That's right! I made pie! What better is that I ate it afterwards! That makes me very happy!

2. Art

In college, I made a ink drawing/painting? Whatever, I used both pen and brush. It came out awesome!

3. Muppets

Duh! I watched a couple of episodes today!

Life is gooood.

My coworkers brought in a cake and sang Happy Birthday to me. D'awwww!

Smiling here finally because...
I can has dust-free room?

The plumbing crew destroying my bathroom finished finally yesterday afternoon. I spent the rest of the day into night cleaning every froggin' inch of it, curtains washed, dusting, the works. Exhausting but it was SOOO nice to be all clean at the end of the day and drop into a clean bed in a dust-free room finally...and the cooler is working! Woo HOO!

Still way behind on my creative projects, but at least I have an environment to do them in again!
