    That's great news.

    >>ITV - 10:55am Muppet Christmas Carol<<
This will probably will be cut with "When Love Is Gone" taken off and it could be shown all most in widescreen

    >>BBC1 - 1:45pm Muppet Treasure Island <<
Very possibly it will be uncut version with bad language

    >>Channel4 - 8:15am Muppets Take Manhattan <<
This will be in widescreen for sure :). The last time this movie was shown on C4 New Years Day 2000 at 9.am ;)

    Later

After "Something Better" song Billy Bones say's "How does does she blo*dly do that?" rather than "...... blomming do that?", and later the Muppet pirates in Billy's room: "Billy is Dead!, and he hasn't got the blo*dly map" instead of "....... blomming map". And much later in the film where Long John almost cutting the rope to plunge Kermit into his death, he asks Piggy "Where is the blo*dy treasure?" instead of "....... blasting treasure?". And that's all the bad language is featured.

For some reason BBFC didn't edited out the bad language in the orignal thearical (spelling?) release, but did edited out on video in the UK. The uncut version is available in the US.

But let's hope the BBC show's the uncut version ;)

Bloody is considered bad language in the UK? Kind of strange to me. In the US that's more like a darn or shucks.

You guys didn't answer Frogboy's question. I wouldn't mind, but I'm jjust itchin' to know!

Is Bloody a swear word in the UK?
  14. BlueFrackle Active Member

    Guys,

    Its not.

    Yes it bl**dy is.

The Vicar of Dibley had a classic scene concerning this question (is bl**dy a swear word). It cost Owen a £1 a time. Very mild swear word though.

Strange that the use of this word should be an issue for a film that features skeletons hung from trees, talking skulls, torture and murder. My 3 year old loves the Muppets but he ain't going to be seeing Treasure Island for a few years yet.

Yes, I know all the above were needed to be true to the book and I am not arguing with their inclusion in the film. Just think that a small child is more likely to be disturbed by someone being hung from a tree until they die and their skeleton is left to mark the way rather than the word bl**dy.

Oh! I think I saw that Vicar of Dibley episode (We get them on PBS. Apparently, because it's from the UK someone thought it was educational.. but whoever it was, my hats off to them! Love that British sicom humor!)

Basically, it's funny, cuz I remember the B word used on several cartoon shows made for kids, especially on Carmen Sandiago (In some episode they went through time, screwed up the revolutionary war, and the Cheif said that he had a "Bl**dy English accent." Sometimes I've noticed they used "ruddy" instead. Don't have any idea what a rud is...
