We Need Another Movie

Then they really shouldn't try and release a movie or two a month. I almost forgot Pete's Dragon was due out this year, next month too. I can't see them making back that money, even if the thing was low budget.

They lost millions with John Carter of Mars, The Lone Ranger (which they even stalled a few times because they thought it would tank, which it did), and BFG, which didn't even know which audience it wanted since the kids who are too young would be afraid of it, and kids too old to enjoy it would rip the film a new one. Disney lost a tiny amount of advertising budget on MMW, it made a little back over seas. By all means, a cheap Muppet film is more fiscally sound than a massive budget blockbuster that they know won't do so well.

Pete's Dragon and The BFG were great films IMHO but sadly audiences tastes are changing which might be why the Muppets are struggling to find a new young audience:( time to move the Muppets over to Netflix, after seeing that great show, Stranger things I am convinced TV is trending to Netflix style shows with no commercials, shorter seasons, and you can watch the entire season in one day, plus they track everybody and what they watch, Nielson Ratings are dead as a door nail...

I wouldn't mind if the Muppets continued to produce YouTube-exclusive content, but at the same time, I would still like to see them do other things of more substance; but again, I really wish Disney would actually let actual Muppet writers/producers/directors come up with something that really showcases the Muppets' uniqueness, rather than trying to bring in more mainstream writers/producers/directors to try to give the Muppets mainstream, formulaic appeal. I mean, isn't Kirk Thatcher supposedly working on a potential new Muppet series or some sort?

Unfortunately, That's been postponed indefinitely. So, probably not gonna happen.

As for Muppet writers writing the projects, I still don't think that necessarily has to happen, I mean, it'd be great if it did, but I don't think that would be the only way or the best way for a Muppet project to be successful. As long as you're a skilled screenwriter that has a love for the characters and really understands them and their type of humor, than you can write for the Muppets. We've seen people like Nick Stoller, Jason Segal and James Bobin successfully take on Muppet projects; and i'd also like to point out that the replacement showrunner of the 2015 show Kristen Newman did a great job of getting the show on track and really making the show feel Muppety.

Knowing Disney, doesn't surprise me a bit.

    Will you stop that?! :attitude:

Besides, Disney has greenlighted way more Muppet projects than The Jim Henson Company did in the years following Jim's death.

I would just love any sort of continuous muppet content whether it was weekly 5 minute sketches or songs on YouTube or a 5-7 minute series

Okay, if we do get another movie, I either want it to be a western or an origin story for The Electric Mayhem.

Actually, after reading this page of another thread:
    http://www.muppetcentral.com/forum/...ets-most-wanted-theatrical-film.57199/page-35

And after reading this Craig Shemin interview:
    http://www.toughpigs.com/craig-shemin-part-2/

I now kind of agree with you that we should have a Muppet writer to write the next movie. I think i'd like a collaboration with Craig and Jim Lewis. It would also be amazing to get Frank Oz involved, but that seems less likely.

Jim Lewis is, to me, sort of the successor to Jerry Juhl in terms of Muppet writers when it comes to movies - he really seems to have a lot of Jerry's sensibilities in terms of not just the characters, their personalities, and their interplay, but also the right balance of humor, heart, and edge. Much like Joey Mazzarino for SST, where it seemed as though he was becoming the new Jon Stone.

As for Frank, he seems to retain the mentality that he'll only get involved if he's asked to, but nobody is asking him.

I recently went to Disney Hollywood Studios and after the Muppet 3-D movie Show I went into the Muppets gift shop and to say lack of Muppets Merchandising would be a serious under statement. not one Muppet stuffed plush toy:( I really don't think Disney has any interest in Muppets it really pains me to say that but it is true we deserve another theatrical film at least and or a TV show. what was wrong with the last ABC Muppets show in 2015? I loved it! It's Ironic Fresh Off The Boat aired the same year as the Muppets in 2015 yet the only show out of the two that is still on the air is Fresh Off The Boat. don't get me wrong FOTB Is ok but Muppets Show 2015 was much better. me and my dad loved the show we watched every week it aired the year my family moved to our new house in Punta Gorda Florida!

Um, Fresh Off the Boat started way before the Muppets series did.

Anything not bringing in loads of dosh was ditched when the new whatever (Can't remember term or name) came in and tried to make the channel their own. Same happened with Castle, Nashville and Agent Carter.

but they were on the same night, what show do you prefer out of the two and that is my point not when it first aired.
