Don't give up. Keep trying. Hopefully you can think up a great project that you will have the opportunity to complete. And of course, the whole universe isn't against you, as us here at MC are part of the universe. There's 15,304 of us supporting you here.

Perhaps you need to just take a break for a couple weeks, put everything to the side for awhile, recharge yourself, and then tackle your next project. You've put a lot of work into this, and you've obviously hit some speed bumps, but I don't think you should toss everything away because of this. Hope you're feeling better.

Also D'Snowth, maybe this quote from fuzzygobo may help:
You're just paying your dues before you become extremely successful. Right now you're in the stage where you play sleazy clubs, are turned down by record companies, spend five years of soul-searching, and struggle. Then, after this period is over, paying those dues over and over pays off, as you things begin to get better and you're able to have great puppeteering success.

Well, I don't know about all that, but yeah, I mean, it seems like just about everything I try to do anymore immediately backfires in some way for one reason or another.

Thank you Newsmanfan. We had our first church service since the accident yesterday, and it really hurts to see so many of my friends and church family in pain like this, but it was still good to talk and cry with other people. Keep us in your prayers please, this is going to be a long, hard road.

Snowth, I just want to say that I've admired your work for a long time. You're part of what inspired me to get into puppetry now if only i could find some !(@#&@#% foam...
    Full support, bro. :D

Well thank you, and oh wow, I had no idea I've served some inspiration, glad I've had some kind of impact, thank you. :)

Now think, you just joined the exclusive inspire people to get into puppetry club! You're obviously doing something right if you just joined a club that Jim Henson's in.
  9. D'Snowth Well-Known Member

Boy, wouldn't that be something? Obviously I could never measure up to Jim, and I wouldn't even try, but it's still nice to know I've actually served some inspiration to people out there. :)

I failed my CPR written test, so no lifeguard certificate for me. And I need to call all the places my mom pressured me to go to interviews for to tell them that I need to turn down the jobs and I know my mom is going to kill me. I really feel like crying right now.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Hopefully your mother can be understanding at least a little bit. :sympathy:

I've been working on a puppet. The first one I've built in, oh, about 25 years. It's been going well thus far, but today I tried sewing part of its skin. I tried to emulate the Henson Stitch that I saw demonstrated on YouTube, but I watched that about a year ago, and as I'm on dialup and it's a long video I can't just pop back to YouTube and re-watch it. Anyway, my efforts were slow and hit-and-miss--thank goodness I didn't start with the face--and I think that until I can get to a fast connection (or someone points out a text-based description) I'm gonna stick with the foam and furry bits.

Would this help any? It's how I learned some of the more popular stiches (and I thought I've heard the Henson Stich refered to as the ladder stich before)

The ladder stitch is not the one I saw, as the one I saw was a lot more complicated. However, that's a good page, and I'm going to try some of those stitches. Thank you!

So it's been extremely hot lately (they've been saying on the news our current weather is more like July than May), and if you can believe it, I went to a little diner for lunch today... and they actually had the HEAT on inside! I swear, it was like 85, 86 or so outside today, and it was 81 INSIDE. But then again, this particular place caters mostly to old folks, and you know how much they freeze, even when it's in the 100s outside.

I hate my life, I really, really do. I seriously have had enough. I don't want to talk about all the details but I hate being such a life failure. I don't see any point in life anymore.
  18. Gonzo's Hobbit Well-Known Member

Oh I'm sorry Bob *hugs* I hope things get better. Don't think you're a failure. I don't know what's going on but I'll be prayig for you that things get better.
  19. charlietheowl Well-Known Member

I'm sorry you feel this way, I know things can be hard sometimes. Hope things get better soon. :sympathy:

I know you probably don't want to think of it now, but if I recall getting my CPR certification with something like this. The beauty of online classes is you can take it over and over. I think you can repeat the tests, too, but I'm not sure about the rules, as this time I had to go through work. Should you need assistance in this area, just PM me and we'll get things started. I can do basic CPR/AED stuff in my sleep. Lemme know if I can help.
