Aw, I'm sorry to hear that...

I'm sorry to hear that. :(
    That's a little harsh, I guess.
Hey, it's the thought/action that counts.

Noticing just now on MC radio that they apparently re did the Sesame Street "Fur" song with Zoe, Herry, Grover and Elmo. I honestly do not understand this need to redo the old songs. Rejecting what made you work in the first place is never a good idea. And not every single child in the country likes one character. I guess those kids don't watch the show.

I hate to admit it, but the updated version with Zoe, Herry, Grover, and Elmo is the version I saw first.:o

I believe it's been said that they redo songs, skits, sketches, etc like occasionally to keep the show from looking "dated".

Yes because as we all know, 2 year olds are very critical about such things! Plus, we can't go through all the trouble of introducing children to older, yet wonderful things. We must always keep them away from difficult and odd experiences that might confuse them!

Heh...that was sarcasm there...in case you couldn't tell...

Hehe well moving on! Just felt like venting. :halo:

Reading that made me frown, if it means that children today will never know the joy that was "Heeeeere, fishy fishy fishy fishy!"
  7. D'Snowth Well-Known Member

    Lol, too true!
  8. heralde Well-Known Member

Exactly! I do think child experts who subscribe to this way of thinking are, while well intentioned, very mistaken. And I think it also goes along with what's wrong with the educational system in this country in general. The school system coddles children (and their parents), doesn't force them to learn, but instead makes excuses and allowances and talks down to them because they might otherwise get "confused."

Well, I don't know how your system differs from mine, but I know that we get alot of american TV and I do disagree with how children are a bit coddled and talked down to on kids shows. Kids are so much smarter than one would think at first, and have such a huge capacity for learning. Wouldn't you want to foster that instead of being repetitious and boring? It doesn't give kids the idea that there is always something else to learn. I don't think that repetition gives a child a thirst for knowledge.

    2 things:
    1) I was playing Scrabble Online against someone & he was cursing a lot. I warned him "Want to be reported for cursing?" He said "Hey..they curse a lot on this site!" BULLFEATHERS!
2)I've been trying to get in touch with one of my dr's since I need more medication.I've tried calling their office since Wednesday & the answering service says that they've been paging the dr & her associate but neither one has gotten back to the office! So I'm going to need to go without it tonight!

I'm not too fond of excessive swearing either, Kathy, but you know how our world is today...

Urg, Kathy, I know how you feel! I use to love playing The Daily Show with Jon Stewart's trivia game, but you have to play against another player and people always talk really dirty (not just swearing, either). It's upsetting when you just want to play the game.

American media in general is taking a downward turn. Also, there's the ratings issue, which is one problem with trying to teach through Televison.

But yeah, children are young, not stupid. To treat them like "babies" instead of potential adults is a mistake. They are growing up knowing nothing about the world, because they have never had to care before.

Unfortunately I do,Snowthers. Thank goodnes we have people in here that watch themselves. (then again the mods would be after them)

    It's totally pathetic Mrs. P!

Waiting 5 flipping hours in the ER just for a prescription!
OK Muppet Fans, read rant #2 from my post yesterday(about the medication). The dr. never called back.So this was the final straw. My mom & I peddled our (not so) happy butts down to the ER & sat there for (as I said) 5 hours before we were seen! Inexcusable,I tell you! And there were people that came in after us,and they were seen before us!
  19. D'Snowth Well-Known Member

Ug! I hate when that happens!
  20. Katzi428 Well-Known Member

Oh trust me Snowthers,my dr. is going to get an earful from me when I see her in a few days!
