...at least earnings-wise according to this story from theforce.net:

Darth Vader was one of the Top Earning Fictional Characters in 2002 according to a list compiled by Forbes. He came in at No 6 with earnings of $1.3bn.
The figures were calculated by adding worldwide toy/merchandise sales, videogame sales, publishing & box-office revenue, and DVD/VHS sales & rental revenue. The full Top 10 is below:

1) Winnie the Pooh
2) Mickey Mouse
3) Harry Potter
4) Spider-Man
5) Frodo (Lord of the Rings)
6) Darth Vader (Star Wars)
7) Sully (Monsters Inc)
8) Pikachu (Pokemon)
9) SpongeBob SquarePants
10) Yu-Gi-Oh

And no Muppets? Too bad. I'm a bit surprised that Pokemon is still up there, low as it may be.

Me too. Pokemon were so big for a year or two, and then they practically disappeared. Well, they didn't, you still see a lot of merchandise and the show's still on, but the interest seems to have dissipated. My brother and I got into it as the fad was fading, so we got all our Pokemon cards at super-cheap prices.

I never really got into it. Or the card game. Card games really confuse me anyway.

A good friend of my brother's introduced the game to him, and he came over a lot and the two of them played it for hours. They decided one day that they wanted to teach me, and I said, "Are you crazy? I'll never figure that thing out in a million years!!" It looked waaaaayyyyy over my head to me. But I guess I got the right pair of 12-year-olds to teach me! :stick_out_tongue:

Deep in the Hundred Acre Woods
Where Pokemon run away
Where evil dark lords just cannot stand
The wonderful childhood ways...
A mouse namde Mickey, he came close
But SpongeBob was far away.
There was Frodo, and Sully
And a spider
But most of all Winnie the Pooh.
Winnie the Pooh (Pooh!)
Winnie the Pooh (Pooh!)
Chubby little cubby
He knocked out their stuffings,
Winnie the Pooh (Pooh!)
Winnie the Pooh (Pooh!)
Willy, nilly, silly ol' bear.
:sing:

Congrats, Pooh Bear!

ACK!! Pokemon and Yugioh are Japan's Garbage. Why don't kids watch something great like Lupin the 3rd or The original Kinnikuman?
