Also if you go to the photo section of muppets.com the Animal photographs peppered through the selection reflect this modern poser's style. Everything except the eye shape, spacing and focus.

When Diz bought the Muppets, did they not get the patterns and everything? Wouldn't the Puppet Heap Muppets also be based on those same patterns?

Ok Folks, for all you doubters out there or those of you still sitting on the fence about whether to buy Animal, heres a picture of mine.

Bear:o in mind, he's unposed and has had very little done to him since I got him as I'm still trying do decide on a pose and don't want to weaken the metal by constantly faffing. I think I'll wait til I get a drumset to pose him.

I'm more impressed with the Ghostbuster Hook & Ladder #8 photo! Did you go there yourself? Did you go inside? They have a movie memorabilia wall inside (I understand).

Yeah, it was one of my lifes ambitions (I'm realistic with my goals:p ) to visit the Ghostbusters HQ. I didn't get to go in as they were out on call (the firemen not the ghostbusters!) but I peered through the window and they have the 3D sign from the second movie on the wall and there's a Ghostbuster fireman painted on the pavement outside!

Now that I've got this way off topic: There were 3 guys from a Ghostbusters fan forum who made an Ecto-1 and drove it there. They have photos inside the firehouse with the car and everything, they wore uniforms and equipment. It was awesome.

    Back on topic:
Frogboy: You said you cut the feathers from Animal's head?
Anthony: Can you give a tutorial on the felt thing you did with your Animal's eyes?

Well the Kermit review says that Master Replicas now recieve patterns, swatches and notes from Puppet Heap so the way Animal turned out i guess they gave Master Replicas the plans they use themselves for Animal right now and he has turned out a great replica, actually extremely accurate when you look at the latest "real" Animal puppet. I'm sure Puppet Heap had access to Henson's original patterns, they are all ex-Henson builders anyway, but for some reason the puppets they turn out (while still being beautiful classic representations) seem to have a slightly more modernized, maybe even more detailed/empasized look about them. Could be how Diz wants em to look, maybe its just Puppet Heap putting their own stamp on em, no idea. I guess when Master Replicas wanted to do a 70's version of Gonzo they had to go back to the original Henson plans, since he's changed so much.

Nice pose.....he looks like he has just started to calm down from having a fit!

I trimmed some feather on his head but mostly from his chin. I didnt like Animal with lots of chin hair. I would be really careful if you are going to cut his hair as you need to be really steady:) . I had pupils given to me by a really nice member of this forum. I was able to peal off the pupils and re adjust them. They look a lot better now. I have just bought a chain from a local hardware store and it looks pretty cool on him, I was inspired to get one after watching The Great Muppet Caper earlier today. Its a shame he didnt come with the collar
    and chain.

Slight trimming of a few longer stray hairs that just didn't look right. Nothing major. You can see the stray hairs in the article pictures that aren't present in the latest collar photos I just took. Shedding a few of these scraggly hairs (even though he's supposed to have some) caused his head to take shape.

I'm thinking that Disney wants to brand the Muppets and their look in a consistent, easier to replicate way. The only character that seems to have a hard time is Piggy. It appears they're trying to find an appropriate formula for her since Oz. Her Muppets TV look makes her head too plump and her face too tiny.

    (ducks karate chop) :o

I think you are probably right. It may also be that some of the master puppets our main Muppeteers are using may still be pre-Diz JHC built ones. Only the Piggy that Eric seems to be using is reminiscent of the "Muppets TV" clones, unless as you say they just had a hard time with that character.

It is going to be interesting what Terry is going to put out for Piggy since he has no pattern to go by from what he told me. It is all going to be done out of foam. He is going to do the body and a friend of his is going to work on the head. Wonder what look they will be going for. I know it is going to make me ask him when I email him next time.

I wanna know what Piggy's going to be wearing!

Thanks for sharing about cutting the hair on Animal. It's a bit spooky being the price paid for him. It just isn't the same as when making my own design of something, y'know?
  17. Hopefully she will be wearing the purple opera gloves. How about the hair? Long, short, curly, straight, brown, blonde? What would be the iconic Piggy look?

    That look is my favorite.

antonydavanzo and frogboy4 - I love your guys' Animals! Awesome job!

Mistersuperstar - I'd love to see that Piggy look mixed with this one!
  19. I know what you mean. The slightly streamlined and slightly prettier version. As long as it's not too close to the newer Piggy with the very light and toneless complexion and shorter, blonder, straight hair. Piggy's hair needs to be darkish blonde, with a slight wave, and quite a way past shoulder length. Also, the newer Piggy seems to have had her cheeks done and a nose job which don't do anything for her.

I agree, I like the classic look myself of Piggy.
