Neverwhere becomes official

By Phillip Chapman
Coutesy of The Works
January 11, 1998

As you may know from the Jim Henson's Company's press release, a while ago they optioned the film rights for Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

Well, here's a quote from Neil himself (from a CompuServe bulletin board) on the status of the film:

Well, I said you'd read it here first...

The deal has been done for the NEVERWHERE film. I'll be writing it. Denise DiNovi (who produced most of Tim Burton's films, and Heathers and Little Women) will be producing it, Jesse Dylan will be directing it, and Henson Films will be making it (which means we get to use the Creature Shop for rats and the Beast).

We all want this to happen FAST -- with luck and a good headwind we could be shooting it in January... on location.. in London...freezing our noses, ears and fingers off...

I really must write something set in Hawaii.
