"New Odyssey" has preview on Saturday

By Phillip Chapman
January 16, 1999

According to Henson.com, Saturday night we'll see a preview of what the new Odyssey network will be like. The site says:

Tune in on Saturday, January 16th from 7-10pm for a special preview of the new Odyssey Channel, hosted by Mandy Patinkin. Odyssey is a partnership between Henson, Hallmark Entertainment and the Odyssey Channel cable network.

It should be very interesting to see what we find out about the new channel's programming. Last month, they were in the process of considering new names for the network and expanding their cable and satellite base.

Outside of the US, the Henson, Hallmark network is known as the Kermit Channel which began last fall in Latin America and Asia. In the United States, it is a three-way partnership including the ownership of the current Odyssey Channel. The new name of the re-launched Odyssey Channel has not yet been announced.

The Odyssey web site and the Kermit Channel's web site have not mentioned anything about this preview on it's on-line schedule. TV Guide listed only normal programming and nothing about the Henson, Hallmark, Odyssey preview. However, this addition was added to Henson.com on Friday so it might have been a programming decision that was made only recently.
