Farscape creatures get a redesign

Not only will there be new puppets, but plans are to improve the previous characters who have been a part of "Farscape". While talking to Space.com, the program’s "puppet chief", Dave Elsey revealed that the characters of Rygel and Pilot will be rebuilt, adding, "If we’ve done our job properly, people won’t even notice. Our aim is to get the audience to forget they’re looking at foam latex, and instead experience the puppets as real characters."

Elsey goes on to explain what we can expect in the series second season, saying, "You’re going to be seeing a better, even more believable set of puppets. The lip synching will look better, the cosmetics will be better, everything will be better." More specifically regarding Pilot, Elsey adds, "He will look the same, but we’ll see more of him. In the first season, he was kind of like a newsreader in that you could almost forget he had legs. That will change this season."

Beyond that, there will be even more aliens on the series. Elsey explains, "We’re also going to meet a whole array of very strange new aliens, and we’ve done some very innovative stuff. We have some very big aliens this season, some are 7-8 foot tall bipedals."
