February 1, 2002

DivXNetworks, Inc., the company that created the revolutionary patent-pending DivX MPEG-4 video compression technology, today announced a commercial licensing agreement with The Jim Henson Company, an established leader in family entertainment.

The Jim Henson Company has licensed the leading DivX video codec for use in a promotional campaign commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Muppet Show, the popular family program that has brought joy to generations since its television debut a quarter of a century ago. The company plans to distribute promotional CDs featuring Muppet video clips encoded in high-quality DivX format. DivX video technology enables the creation and distribution of DVD-quality video at 7-10 times greater compression, allowing high-quality video to be easily distributed over broadband networks or compressed to fit on CD-ROMs.

"Our marketing efforts surrounding The Muppet Show 25th anniversary campaign consistently reflect the excellence of the Muppet brand, which is why we felt it was important to choose the best possible video technology for distribution of promotional clips," said Mike Polis, Senior Vice President of Marketing Worldwide at The Jim Henson Company.

"DivX MPEG-4 offers incredible visual quality and excellent compression, allowing us to deliver the best possible video to our customers and business partners," said Tobias Iaconis, Vice President of Information Systems at The Jim Henson Company.

Hailed as a "revolutionary product" by Tom's Hardware Guide, DivX MPEG-4 video compression technology has been downloaded over 30 million times, currently ranking as the fourth most popular application on CNET's Download.com and the most popular multimedia application. The Jim Henson Company is one of a number of DivX technology and content partners. For DivX commercial licensing inquires, e-mail licensing@divxnetworks.com or visit www.divxnetworks.com.
