Muppet Central News - Rocky Mountain Holiday and the Storyteller come to DVD August 26th

Two all-time Henson classics will make their DVD debut on Tuesday August 26th. The 1983, ABC prime-time special, John Denver and the Muppets: Rocky Mountain Holiday will be released on video for the first time ever. All nine episodes of Jim Henson's beloved Storyteller series will also be released in one special DVD collection.

Jim Henson's The Storyteller

From the Creators of “The Dark Crystal” and “Labyrinth” This anthology series, comprised of all nine episodes, features both human actors and creations from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in this retelling of classic folk tales, fables and legends. The series stars Academy Award nominee John Hurt (1981, Best Actor, Elephant Man) in the title role. Aided by his cynical dog, Hurt narrates fascinating tales that combine humor, intrigue and magic. Academy Award-winning writer/director Anthony Minghella (1997, Best Director, The English Patient) wrote the screenplay for all of these marvelous stories.

These timeless tales feature such stars as Miranda Richardson (Spider, Sleepy Hollow), Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings), Brenda Blethyn (Secrets & Lies), Gabrielle Anwar (Scent of a Woman), Jennifer Saunders (TV’s “Absolutely Fabulous”), Jane Horrocks (Little Voice) and Jonathan Pryce (Stigmata).

The Storyteller DVD Collection includes the following nine episodes: Hans My Hedgehog, Fearnot, A Story Short, The Luck Child, The Heartless Giant, The Soldier and Death, The True Bride, Sapsorrow and The Three Ravens.
