The Muppets and Macy's bring Oz to Herald Square Muppets’ Wizard of Oz and R&B Superstar Ashanti Will Unveil Macy’s Herald Square’s World-Famous Broadway Windows as Part of 31st Annual Flower Show Festivities Courtesy
of the Muppets Holding Company
Grammy Award-winner and Muppets’ Wizard of Oz co-star Ashanti will unveil the windows in a special grand kick-off celebration to Macy’s much-anticipated annual Flower Show. The unveiling will take place Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Macy’s Herald Square’s Broadway windows.
As well as Ashanti, this much anticipated re-telling of the Frank L. Baum classic co-stars Queen Latifah, Quentin Tarantino, David Allen Grier and Jeffrey Tambor, along with Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppet gang.
"We are incredibly excited that Macy’s has chosen to transform their much-loved flower show windows into our magical land of Muppets’ Wizard of Oz,” said Chris Curtin, general manager and vice president of Muppets Holding Company, LLC (MHC). “Macy’s and the Muppets have a long history together and we look forward to joining forces with them again as part of this event.”

The
Macy’s and Muppets are partners once again, this time transforming
Macy’s renowned Broadway windows into scenes from The ABC
Television Network’s original film event The Muppets’
Wizard of Oz, airing this May. 
The
windows feature floral renditions of six scenes from the film recreated
with thousands of live flowers. Additionally, during the spring
season, exclusive Muppets' Wizard of Oz merchandise will be featured
and Macy's shoppers will get a preview of the film at special kiosks
stationed throughout the store.
The
Muppets’ Wizard of Oz partnership is the latest endeavor in
the Muppets ongoing relationship with Macy’s. A Kermit the
Frog balloon has appeared in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
since the early 1970’s, and Kermit has made numerous in-person
appearances at the Parade over the years. In addition, the Muppets
are regularly featured as part of Macy’s in-store promotions,
including the 2003 Kermit holiday plush offering.
