Billboard announced
today that Walt Disney Records will release the CD soundtrack to "The
Muppets' Wizard of Oz" on May 17, 2005 and the DVD on August 9, 2005.
The soundtrack
will showcase the new songs created for television-movie, plus some classic
Muppet songs. Songs on the soundtrack include Ashanti's solo rendition
of "Gotta Get Out of Kansas" and "It's a Good Life,"
plus a collaboration of Ashanti, Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie and Pepe on "When
I'm With You". The CD will be rounded out by such familiar Muppets
tunes as "Rainbow Connection", "Mahna Mahna", and
"The Muppet Show Theme".
It was also
announced today that the DVD release of "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz"
will be released through Disney Home Entertainment on August 9, 2005.
The exact details of the DVD's content has not been released yet, and
won't be until later this summer. The disk will hold the 88-minute "The
Muppets' Wizard of Oz" tele-film; and fans should also be able expect
a nice collection of related bonus materials included as well.
"The
Muppets' Wizard of Oz" will air in the United States on Friday, May
20, 2005 at 8:00 pm EST on ABC (check local listings for full details).
The film will also premiere in New York at the
Tribeca Film Festival on April 19th through May 1st (more details
can be found on the festival's
official website).
