Muppet Central News - Fraggle Rock Season 2 coming to DVD in September

HIT Entertainment has announced that Fraggle Rock Season 2 is officially coming to DVD. The scheduled release date is Tuesday September 5, 2006. Fraggle Rock Season 1 was released last September and has sold well. Fans around the world will be thrilled that HIT is continuing with releasing subsequent Fraggle Rock seasons on DVD.

Over the weekend, Muppeteer Dave Goelz was the featured guest at a Fraggle Rock theatrical screening in Dallas. He confirmed that The Jim Henson Company has begun scanning the archives for bonus material for the second season box set.

It will be a challenge to outdo the first season which includes more than an hour of new bonus interviews with the cast, the “Down at Fraggle Rock” documentary and scenes from the original “auditions” for the series.

Here are some of the bonus features that we would love to see included with the Fraggle Rock Season 2 boxset:

More cast interviews concerning specific second season episodes as was done with season 1 with "Marooned" and "The Minstrels".
Foreign bridging segments with Doc, Sprocket and Traveling Matt produced for each co-production.
Odyssey's reworked one-minute foreign Traveling Matt spots with English dialogue by Dave Goelz.
The unaired, original version of the theme song.
Isolated audio tracks highlighting the songs of season 2.
Behind-the-scenes bloopers and mishaps.
A sneak-peak of the Fraggle film in development.
A tribute to the late Muppet writer Jerry Juhl.

Fraggle Rock Season 2 is the only other Fraggle release that HIT is planning for the rest of the year. HIT has released five single-disc Fraggle DVD’s with several episodes on each disc. The most recent release, “Down in Fraggle Rock” arrived in stores on January 17 and features the episodes “Boober’s Dream”, “Wembley’s Egg”, “Red’s Blue Dragon” and the bonus episode “Junior Faces the Music”.
