Beaker receives the Muppets Webby Award Congratulations to the Muppets' Beaker for winning a 2009 Webby Award! Courtesy of the Muppets Studio The global Web community has voted Beaker’s performance of "Ode To Joy" as Best Music Video of the Year in the Webby People’s Voice Awards. The musical performance – a solo tour de force by Muppet Labs most famous, most combustible, and only assistant -- was part of a viral video campaign released on the web by the Muppets. “I am so proud of Beaker,” said Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, chief scientist at Muppet Labs, and Beaker’s longtime mentor. “I just hope that this musical and webological success doesn’t make Beakie forget his commitment to science and to getting the coffee machine set up every morning. Frankly I haven’t a clue how that thing works.” Upon learning of the award, Beaker was nearly speechless, uttering only a single sob-of-joy-choked “Meep!” before his head disappeared into his collar. Beaker was honored at a star-studded ceremony hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Seth Meyers on June 8th in New York City.
