No offence Kathy but the http link in that spammer's profile you copied out is clearly accessible. Even though the spammer has been banned, could it not be very dangerous if somebody accidentally clicked the link? :concern:

No, it's okay. All that link does is take you to the user profile. If it directed you somewhere else, then I'd edit the post... But profile-routing links is how I asked people to start posting their reports of spammers in this thread because I couldn't identify them by just the http headings alone.

Hope this answers your concerns Marty.

With all due respect Ed, I just clicked onto the link and it sent me to an online petition claiming to be against socialized viagra healthcare in America. Needless to say I did not sign the petition nor click onto anything else.

I don't know whether the link worked different when you tested it for some reason but it does worry me. Thank goodness it wasn't anything really bad I was linked to.
I understand you meant no harm of course Kathy, but we need to be more careful. Those spammers sure are sneaky devils Ed. :frown:

Ah, sorry Marty, it seems we were talking about two different links. I was refering to the user profile link, whereas you were refering to the spam URL that user provided in their profile which Kathy copied and pasted here. Just removed that so it shouldn't be a problem any more.

Its already been taken care of, thanks to Ed or whoever it was on the mod team who banned them, but a PM was sent to lots of us from FORUMTEAM claiming to be the forum admins and saying viruses had been found on computer and to click the link to clean it. Maybe there's a way to only allow people with a certain number of posts to send PM's, as i get quite a lot of spam through them.

I thought you did have to have a certain number of approved posts before you could PM people or reply to PM people sent to you first. At least 10 I thought it was.

Yeah. Ideally, any spammer like that who lists "Test" as their favorite Henson character would be automatically banned without even any access time after registering. Unfortunately, macros haven't been created and added to MC's programming to recognize and treat said spammers thusly. Maybe if MC upgrades to V.Bulletin 4.0 issues like these could be dealt with in swifter manner before pernicious PM's or posts get posted.
