I wish we'd had the muppety options we have now when I got married back in January of 2003.. *sigh* hubby would have been all over the idea... *sigh* cake toppers are a good idea (and has been done often enough to give you lots of ideas.. and can occasionally be found on ebay, as well..) I love the idea of Animal ripping open presents... I'd probablly have Kermit at the guest sign in book.. now, as for Gonzo.... i've no idea where I'd put him... if you had a coat check, maybe put him there.. though I'd put stuffed penguins there, myself..(ok, so there are no good large muppet penguins, there are still stuffed penguins and sometimes you just have to make due...)
All sorts of ideas can be come up with depending on what sorts of stations you'll be having at your reception, though I'd keep them away from food or beverages, and high enough up to be out of the reach of children (and possibly adults..... may want to post little signs asking everyone to keep hands off...)
good luck and let us know what you wind up doing

Did It!

Ha!

I'm still waiting to get photos from the photographer and most friends, but here are the first bits of proof that Kermit the Frog attended my wedding. He's even in some of the formal "groomsmen" shots...

Here's the outfit:

And some of my uncle's (large) photos:

One very young boy in the audience shrieked and pointed as if he'd just seen a huge celebrity... which he did!

At some point in the evening, an appointed frog-wrangler in the wedding party rescued Kermit from his various posing and from the less than delicate hands of my younger cousins.

I'll post more as I get good photos...

*squeals with delight*

Kermit looks so HANDSOME in that outfit!

*sigh* Had I been there, I'd be fighting the kids for squealing rights.

Just for the record, my mother made the outfit out of clothes found at Goodwill.

The shirt is a dress shirt for a baby. She used some old pillow cases to extend the arms in the cuffs. The pants were a toddler's shorts that were exactly the right length, she split the seams on the sides and cut about 2/3 of the width of the leg off, though she somehow managed to save the pockets... The tie is the tail end of the same tie that the guys in the wedding party wore - the other part of that tie ended up being worn by the ring-bearer! Don't remember the shoe size. I'll see if I can find it, but it was a little tight.

Just a continuation of all the great Muppet costumes my mom and I made together for various Halloweens when I was growing up! Only this time she was dressing a Muppet like a person instead of the other way around! Gotta see If I can find photos of those someplace, they were great......
