I do want to say that you find disruptive, disinterested kids in both disadvantaged and well off areas.

I do think there's less respect nowadays and that's not good. However, I don't recall too many happy memories from my own school days. So don't be fooled too much by the "good old days" argument.

Agreed. Each generations has had its problems, no doubt. What we need to do is to figure out ways to solve them.

All I'm saying is, the old joke about naughty little boys dipping girls' pig tails into ink wells just shows children have always misbehaved, hehe.

In the '50s, there was too much emphasis on fear and punishment in school, so there was naturally a backlash. Now the parents rescue their kids too much and don't let them take responsibility for bad grades etc.
