    Body Foam

School of Puppetry wrote an article about foam that I found particularly helpful. Here's the link to it: http://www.schoolofpuppetry.com.au/tutorials.php/how-to-make-a-foam-puppet-aamp-what-kinds-of-foam-to-use Enjoy!

    I Absolutely Hate Sewing

I know the seams on the neck are visible and annoying, but I don't know if you see the ones on the chin and back of the head. They're warped and puffed out. Is that caused from wide stitches as well?

    I Absolutely Hate Sewing

Nope - I don't want to mess up using a fleece that expensive. :sigh: I'm using Polar Fleece, but I don't think it's necessarily about hiding them, they just look gosh darn awful and puffed out. Here are some pictures to help you try to understand:

    I Absolutely Hate Sewing

Every time I start a puppet, I complete the foam structure, then it comes time to cover it with fleece. I cut the fleece perfectly. I begin sewing using the basic whipstitch. Although time-consuming, I have patience and complete sewing. I flip it inside out and long-behold, the seam looks...

    Reputable foam dealer

http://www.foamdistributing.com/products/poly.html I was surfing the internet when I found this company. $11.60 for a 1/2" sheet 82" x 76"?!? Is that an amazing deal or am I mistaken? Has anyone used this company before? If so, how's the foam? Thanks!

    Little Shop of Horrors Commercial

Look like some cool puppets! I made a LSOH puppet a while back for my own pleasure ( I love the musical), but theirs looks better than mine! D: This is the only pic I could find of mine, this was during the building of it (IE: the white vein). -> http://i53.tinypic.com/13ymbgg.jpg. Any idea...

    Rotondo Project Puppet Pattern

I know this is sort of a stupid question, but I bought the fleece covering pattern and the normal Rotondo pattern, and when it says cut out the neck patterns, do they want us to make our own neck patterns? If not, I can't find the neck pattern!:eek:

    Foam Head/Filling

Thanks for the suggestion MuppetLabsBoy, but too late! I spent the extra money and bought the Rotondo pattern and fleece covering pattern. I really hope this is gonna go well! And I definitely will post pictures on my progress.

    Bunsen Honeydew mouth

I would think it would be carved out of a block of Scott Foam as you've said, and as the mouth moves, it would stretch the Scott Foam.

    Foam Head/Filling

I agree that the Rotondo pattern would work great, but the $10 difference means a lot. As I've mentioned before, I'm reeaaalllyy low on money right now, since I'm a student with a low-pay job :sympathy:.

    Foam Head/Filling

So.. I got everything, cut a piece of foam, and now I'm stuck. I guess I'm trying to make up my own 3 piece method now, and it's not working:grouchy:. Looks like I have to spend the extra $40 now for the Foam Book DVD, and wait some more. Any ideas/suggestions on where to start?

Thanks Melonpool! When I go out to get my list of supplies I'll be sure to pick some contact cement up. FeLo, I think it's just shears/scissors used precisely.

    Foam Head/Filling

Thanks everyone, it really helped a lot! How would I go about gluing the foam sheets together? Would a hot glue gun do the trick? Or would an adhesive like 3M Super 77 be the right direction to go? Here are some pictures of what I have in mind for the chin, using a spare piece of reticulated...
