The other day it occurred to me that someone should spoof the song "40 Blocks from My Home" to do a rough timeline of Sesame Street's development. Here's what I have so far...

"40 Years on the Air" by Ingeborg S. Nordén
Based on an original performed by Jerry Nelson

[Spoken as director's slate claps: "Lights, camera, action!"]

One year, two years, three
The moms watch along on TV
Four, five, six
A new Gordon joins in the mix
Seven, eight, nine
The airlines send Buffy flyin'
Ten--count 'em, ten
Man, the Count's counting people again
Yeah, life's been pretty cool
Helpin' kids prepare for school...
40 years on the air!

When the lines ended with a number, I was hoping to include one highlight from that season... The only trouble is, I can't always find someting memorable for the right year! (The Muppet Wiki says very little about Season 13, for instance...and some milestone events, like Mr. Hooper's death or Maria and Luis' wedding, happened in a season that's buried in mid-line.) Any suggestions, fellow Sesame fans?
