Yeah, TV is pretty much trash nowdays. As long as the shows keep up with the fads and popular culture they do well. Characterization, originality, and morals have all pretty much been thrown out the window. :sympathy:
Well said. I haven't watched too much network tv in years. There is not much there that really appeals to me anymore, and I don't commit myself to watching too many shows anyway. Most of the time I find something more valuable and worthwhile on cable.

I personally like Buffy the Vampire Slayer a lot. I can understand why people think it's a bit... campy if they've never actually watched it. The title and the whole concept does seem a flaky and like a B movie horror flick and that tends to put people off and they don't give it much of a chance. But if you actually watch it (for more than just a few minutes), you'll find it's actually one of the best written, best produced shows on television with some of the most well rounded characters I know of. There's a lot of shows I like but that's the only show I watch that I can say that about.

I'd blame the network heads for keeping reality tv on the air. However, there doesn't seem to be any originality with television shows anymore that strike me as good. Shows like I Love Lucy, Cheers, Frasier, MASH, etc. were good because of the writing they had and the quality of the show that was being shown. I don't watch a lot of new stuff on television, but I find myself watching old programs that are good.

How come everytime when I post a response in a popular thread, then everyone else stops posting in that thread?

My best all time tv shows are Green Acres, The Andy Griffith Show, The Honeymooners, All in the Family, I Love Lucy, The Flintstones, The Twilight Zone, The Wonder Years, and , of course, Sesame Street. Two other ones that were film shorts but have been shown in tv show format for years that I also rank up there are The 3 Stooges (the Curly episodes) and Tom & Jerry (the 40's and 50's Tex Avery ones). There's a lot of other good shows I've enjoyed that aren't as good as these classics, like The Odd Couple, The Jeffersons, Alice, Dragnet, and Petticoat Junction.
