"Around the Universe"

After agonising over several lyric issues with the chorus, I think I've finally managed to peg out the lyrics for the song 'Around the Universe' from beginning to end. Phew! It took a while, but I think it is correct (except for maybe the portions about "fussin' and a fightin'" hmm...oh well, I've tried

 Hope you all like it!

Around the Universe
Travelling Matt, Gobo, Red, Wembley & Chorus

From Outer Space it's very clear to me/
(I got another card from Uncle Matt!)/
A Fraggle must go to meet his destiny/
(I wish I could be as brave as that!)/
You're as brainy as your Uncle Matt!/

Around the universe/
Exploring every mile/
My mind often turns back to Fraggle Rock/
I'm marching on with a smile/
All around the world/
(When you're in an argument a feudin and a fightin'/
There is no better place/
(Wishin and a shoutin' when you only need some lovin')/
We'll all be here livin' in Fraggle Rock.../
You need to be out in space!/

It's hard to believe it when I look around/
(I wonder what it's like in outer space!)/
A culture like ours is nowhere to be found/
(What's it like to be in another place?)/
Does he ever see a friendly face?/

Around the universe/
Exploring every mile/
My mind often turns back to Fraggle Rock/
I'm marching on with a smile/
All around the world/
(When you're in an argument a feudin and a fightin')/
There is no better place/
(Wishin and a shoutin' when you only need some lovin')/
We'll all be here livin' in Fraggle Rock.../
You need to be out in space!/

Gobo my boy, there's so much to explore!/
One of these days I'll do the same.../
Follow the light and make it through the door/
(It's hard to believe you're as dumb as that!)/
I'm as crazy as my Uncle Matt!/

Around the universe/
Exploring every mile/
Your mind often turns back to Fraggle Rock/
You're marching on with a smile/
All around the world/
(When you're in an argument a feudin and a fightin')/
There is no better place/
(Wishin and a shoutin' when you only need some lovin')/
We'll all be here livin' in Fraggle Rock.../
You need to be out in space!/

Please feel free to post any discrepancies with my transcription (I try to strive for accuracy in doing this...just a little thing I keep reminding myself of). Thank you very much, and enjoy!

There used to be great mysterious discussions of that counter-melody in the chorus, and through a few fraggle song private investigators, it seems to be:

"All around the world/
(Thunderin' and lightnin' and a-feudin' and a-fightin')/
There is no better place/
(Pushin' and a shovin' when we only need some lovin')/"

:excited:

Kewl! Thanks for that, Byron! I appreciate it...I'll go ahead and update the post accordingly. BTW, who investigated? Was it you and a 24 pack of Mountain Dew? (I know I've heard that story before about a puppet builder or someone...maybe it was Gilda related...hmm...that's gonna bug me now!)

Cool!

THANKS! I was wondering about some of those lyrics myself!!

Could someone post an MP3 of the full version?
I only have the version from "Down At Fraggle Rock: Behind the Scenes"

Lol, well I was involved, but no Mt. Dew! :stick_out_tongue:

Quinn 'n I both picked up "a-feudin' and a-fightin'", then it was Quinn who first revealed that that next part was "pushin' and a-shovin' when we only need some lovin'", and then one night in the tub while listenin' to fraggle music (I must had it at just the perfect volume or some'in'), "thunderin' and lightnin'" totally hit me as "the missin' part" of what we'd already "decoded" (heehee).

Wow, I don't usually use that many "quotation marks" in one post.

"Really!"

"I don't"!

According to the record, the song is entitled "All Around the World" even though it's commonly referred to as "Around the Universe".

Great... now I can look forward to ANOTHER hard drive crash!

You see, every time I typed up the lyrics for "All around the world", my hard drive would die shortly thereafter.

I wonder if reading them on the internet (and thusly saving them to my hard drive) counts... We'll see....

Maybe the 'ole Maxtor can't handle the Fraggles? That's what you get when you rely on a product invented by Silly Creatures!

Phil: according to the UK LP release of "Fraggle Rock", which includes this track (and the instrumental version of "Workin'"), it's called "Travelling Matt" ;-)

I guess there's no consistency!

Wow... I didn't realize the UK Fraggle Rock album contained additional tracks. This is the first time I had head about this. I assume we're both talking about the 1983 LP, but just the UK version contains new material, right?

Alex, do you by chance have the extra UK tracks in digital form. I'd like to check them out for Muppet Central Radio.
