Angelina Jolie In Talks to Star in New Muppet Film

Super Scooter, I'm not upset with anyone and I don't want to cause problems with anybody here. I really like this forum and I'm very interested in what everyone has to say. Perhaps I came off cynical, but I was not trying to start any trouble. I realize that the Muppets are not just for kids...that is what I like about them. I was just voicing a concern I had that other parents may have as well. As I said before, I give Jolie credit for being a successful actor, I just personally don't think she would be my first choice in a Muppet film. Some my disagree and I support your right to that. regardless of what I think, I will support any new muppet film with or without her in the cast. I agree that we need to support all things Henson.

Hey Waymond, it's great to see your support...and your opinions. As fans, all of us, we are very protective of what we often concider our own creations (de Muppezzz!) and this will result in us, say, not wanting a certain person cast, but also in others of us wanting these same people cast! And all of us have heated opinions on the subject.

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum.

Bea:zany:{Besides...it's about time someone told Piggy to start sexing up the Muppets again...}regard

... Miss Piggy is sexing up the Muppets? How wrong does that sound?

:o :flirt:  <--- emotions felt when first reading that comment. (shock/laugh, flirt, scared/sad)

I'm certainly not trying to get down on anybody here. I just think that as a couple of generations of fans have grown up and started families they start to remember the Muppets with rosier, possibly more puritanical, glasses. It makes sense when you have kids and that's a good thing. Too many parents allow their children to be exposed to such garbage. However I don't see the Muppets (old or new) being a part of that.

I remember some particularly sexually charged scenes from the Rita Moreno, Rudolf Nureyev and Raquel Welch episodes off hand and some rather strange and morbid moments in the Liza Minnelli and Alice Cooper episodes. This is all before Piggy's "excited utterances" in her Unpigged album Born to Be Wild duet with Ozzie Osborne or Scooter's alternate universe go-go boy cage dancing or even Tin Thing Gonzo's nipple remark. There is a line.

When on Craig Kilborne several years ago, Kermit the Frog mentioned that Snoop Dog's much anticipated cameo was cut from their NBC special due to his association with soft core adult films at the time. They didn't know this when they'd hired him and he was reportedly "turning over a new leaf" with his substance abuse. So they cut it, but not before Kermit said," ...porn's fine, you know, but it's not what we do..." of all things!

The best comedy works on many levels and the Muppets have always known that. They are usually quite sly about any mature references.

I'm going to post further in the new thread Super Scooter is starting.

What is fun about talking about people like AJ as a responsible grown up is that we can say the word "Sex" and "Sexing up" and "Overly sexed" without giggling.

    Or...just giggling to ourselves silently.

...Wait a minute Beau, you're MY son! Not the other way around!

    ...At least... I don't... I don't think.

So, while we're on the subject of sexing things up and visa versa and if I'm your son...How again?

So, remind me, how was this conversation related to Angelina Jolie? I'm sure it had something to do with special effects...

I totally, absolutely agree with Frogboy. This keeps coming up again and again: There seems to be some puritanical idea of the Muppets that is not so. Jim Henson originally wanted it to be an adult show and that is what it always was. What we love about them is that they can joke about grown-up reality.

To degrade them to some sort of prudish world would be a slap in the face of Jim Henson!

I think we were talking about how they were planning on making Angelina completely CGI. Curvacious and pixelated! :zany:

Oh, like the chick(en?) in Mwoo then? Or...just Ange in Beowolf take 2?
  16. theprawncracker

    theprawncracker Well-Known Member

I'm thinking a combination of the two. Take Ange in Beowulf, add some feathers, take away the creepy gold tail, and that's basically what I'm thinking.

Thanks Beauregard! I really enjoy talking with you guys on this forum.

And it's great to have you here! Now, what are your opinions on cows with lisps and/or Angelina in a feathered suit? ;):search:

    WAYMOND Active Member

I enjoyed Angelina in Beowolf! ..but I don't think she would do well in a feathered suit. Not many people could pull that look off. haha
