I'm working on a puppet who needs hair. I've purchased a small string mop head to use as the wig. Since the hair is going to be drawn up in a bun, how do I attach it so the whole hairstyle doesn't flop around?

Mostly it depends on whether or not it will have support underneath.

It's basically a sock puppet so it will only have my hand underneath the fabric.

Then be careful not to use too much. The larger the wig, the more it will want to lean one way or the other. You could try hot-gluing it to some stiff fabric first and then attaching it to your sock, but that might interfere with performance. the best way to attack would be to sew on in a spiral pattern and then pull up - but you wount be able to use the mop head "as-is"

I would use polyfill to stuff the wig and then stitch the wig to scalp.
