Hi all!
I am new to this forum, but I'm a big fan of "vintage" Sesame!

Who remembers the Bumble Ardy animated film?

---------
SUMMARY:
Bumble has party, invites 9 swine to come for birthday cake and wine while mom aka Sweet Adeline is working at Smith & Kline.

(which isn't bad, in fact it's fine...)

The 9 swine show up and start trashing the place (breaking dishes, drawing on wall, etc...)

"CHEERS CHEERS CHEERS! May Bumble live 900 years!"

Adeline returns and she's not pleased:

"I'll give you pigs to number 9 to split!!
Vamoose!! Scram!!
Or else I'll slice you into...ham!"

swine run out...
"9 times the door slammed, then again. 'How odd' thought Adeline '...that's ten'."

and then a voice cried, meek and humble: (cue Jim)
"Please let me in, it's your boy Bumble".

"...and so Adeline, that mom divine, took in her arms her Bumble valentine, and kissed him 9 times over 9.
Which isn't bad...in fact, it's fine".
-------------------------------

I always thought the animation looked like Maurice Sendak. A few years back, I did a search for Bumble Ardy and imagine my surprise when I was led to Amazon and other book stores which were selling a book by that name, written by Sendak! Actually, they were taking advance orders, and still are...the new projected release date is Feb. 2004 (according to Amazon).

Also, the voice of Bumble is Jim, and Jim Henson Productions is credited for the film.

A tie in from another thread about Sesame censorship, how about mom leaving Bumble alone in home at night, not to mention the wine?

"...or else I'll slice you into ham"? hmmmn...that ones a little more debatable perhaps.

Anyway, Bumble is one of my all-time faves.

Perhaps that is why I never did catch that one on Unpaved. Sadly, I don't remember that one from childhood either. Welcome to the forum Zet! Oh yeah, Sendak was so awesome when I was a kid. My favorite was the book & song "Chicken Soup With Rice"

Thanks for your kind welcome Frazzle!
If you grew up in the 70's (or even early 80's) you'll probably remember it if you see it again.
I'm hoping that when DVD burners get cheap, we'll all get to see lot's of goodies.

On Sendak, I just knew Wild Things (who didn't? brilliant) and the one about Pierre pouring syrup on his hair. Sendak is a wild man...I can't wait to get my copy of the book.

Freaky question! How can something be familiar if you've never blinking seen it.

edit

Holy FREAK!!!! I did see it!!!! It's buzzing around my head. Thanks for reminding me...
The book sounds cool, though. Anyone got a vid clip or video of this?

past lives?

What I was saying is if Frazzle watched Sesame in the 70s or early 80s they very likely saw the film...there's lots we've all forgotten about but would remember again if we saw it...happens to me all the time with Sesame and other stuff. It's amazing what your brain stores.

I do have it on video, but no way to transfer.
(If my smilies were working I'd do a Bert here) : <

THAT is the line that triggered my memory, since you pointed out it was Jim. WOW!!! Super distant memory, man! I can tell you and I are going to have a lot of fun on the forum. (I'm new here too and a big fan of Vintage SS) I actually do transfers from VHS to VCD (video cd) for people as a sideline business-type-thing. VCDs are just regular CD-R's that play in most recent DVD players, at about VHS quality, but they're easier to copy and they don't wear out quite as quickly as a tape. Let me know if you want some done!

Oh yeah, for me too...it was a family favorite : )
Actually the voice is pretty much Kermit...I never thought of it as a kid, probably because of the cartoon context, but I wonder if any kids wondered what Kermit was doing there?

heck (whoops! bad Zet) yeah, I'm up for it...Yesterdayland was great until it got zapped...same for the Sesame NG until porn trolls started spamming.
Check my reply to the "10 favorite song" thread if you get a chance

that's cool, I'm familiar with them, but I've not been super impressed even with DVD transfers I've seen so far, so I'm kind of waiting it out until I find someone locally who can do DVD's that look at least as nice as the tapes. Also I can't send my originals to anyone, even if they sound like nice persons like yourself.

Good call! I mean, not about me, but not sending vid's. I only send copies for trade myself. Hope you can find someone to do the transfers soon, as it sounds like you've got a great collection. I'm only starting to acquire some vintage myself, and would someday like to be a major power in the SS trading game.

I do have some pretty good ones...hope I will be able to "get them out there" soon.
In the meantime I'm looking for a way to host a bunch of WAVs I made that are nice quailty...should get this going at least pretty soon.
Tip: I got a lot of stuff from late 90's broadcasts of regular Sesame Street. What I did back then was make daily tapes in EP speed in the morning, and then if there was something good I'd time VCR and record afternoon repeat in SP speed on seperate good tape (you'll still have EP tape btw if SP timed tape messes up for some reason). Of course the goodies are more & more rare, but just last year I tuned in for the first time in years and actually saw one I wanted (the ball on wire track with grinder ending)...didn't get it on tape though. : (

LOL I'm sure you will...persistence is the key as with everything I suppose. Again, when DVD recorders get more common they will hopefully be easy for everyone to trade/DL.

Of course if Sesame Workshop wants to pick up on it and make a buck, they could give it a go themselves instead of pushing N'Sync CD's and 80's material, but that's just my opinion!
