Years ago (Mid-70's/early 80's) there were a series of Sesame Street books sold at the grocery store. You paid a certain amount for the first book and the holder and then each week you got the chance to buy 2 new books.

1) Does anyone remember these?
2) In one of these books, there was a sugar cookie recipe presented as "Cookie Monster's Cookies." Does anyone know the recipe? I wanted to use it to make my holiday cookies and I can't find my copy of the recipe anymore! :frown:

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I remember Cookie Monster's Cooking recipes. They were most frequently featured in the pages of the Sesame Street Library, probably one per volume in all fifteen volumes.
Some of the recipes, not sure if all of them, were also collected in the book titled Big Bird's Busy Book of Activities. This was a book divided by sections like Letters, Numbers, Shapes, Colors and so on. There were activities and a few of Cookie Monster's cookie recipes inside.
Hope this helps and hope you can get the one you want in time.

Yeah, I used to have those books, so I know what you mean. I wish I could remember more of the recipes.

I happen to have the whole series for my daughter....
the recipe for dough remains the same, the cookies are different:

"cutting them into strips to form your favorite letters..."
"cutting them into strips to form them into numbers..." (the Count ends up wanting to count them, and not eat them)
"Surprise cookies involve putting chocolate chips or peanut butter or jam in them as a filling..."

Well, I the books are all upstairs in my daughter's room and she just fell asleep...I'd get them if I could, but those ones I remember specifically off the top of my head.

Hope it helps...even just a little bit...
