Hey Dearth,

I'm new on this site and I have to say I'm impressed with all your work. I liked your stage so much I'm working on my own for my figures (which is currently under construction...)

Keep up the good work!

The 'WWE Dr. Teeth' recreation is something that I've been tinkering on in between progress on a couple of commissions... I noticed how close I was to having him complete, so I went ahead and finished him off.

A side-by-side comparison of a regular Dr. Teeth and my custom show just how many areas needed to be repainted.

I was working with some excellent photo reference of a real WWE Dr. Teeth shown from practically every conceivable angle... BUT, just as with my White Tux Rowlf custom, I did make deliberate changes so that I could tell mine apart from a real one at a glance.

This shot shows the figure disassembled. Each part required a different technique: The coat was spray-painted (Bauhaus Gold), while the torso and arms were spray-painted white. The hands had to be masked off and then painted. The glasses were hand-painted. The pants were just dry-brushed over factory paint. The boots were stripped and then hand-painted. The hat was stripped, then hand-painted black... THEN I masked off everything but the feather, and spray-painted that, then hand-detailed it.

The details on the coat were painstakingly matched to a printout that I'd done of the real figure for the purposes of selecting a paint at the store.

This was just before the final reassembly. Putting him back together without scrubbing any of the paint off was tricky, but I think I did okay.

The keyboard also had to be disassembled for its base coat of spray-paint (Testors No. 28124 Panther Pink). I then hand-detailed the black, red, and silver details.

Hey figmental,

Wow, your very first post was in my thread? I'm honored!

Love your avatar. And is the name 'figmental' a reference to Figment from EPCOT? I only recently learned that Dave Goelz took over the voice for Figment after Billy Barty died.

Glad you like my efforts here. Someone else on here did a bigger one than mine, but I can't seem to find that thread at the moment. Anyway, he recommended this place for ordering vinyl brick sheets: http://www.minishop.com/motts/shopexd.asp?id=67005

Be sure to post pics of your creations, too. If you need any of the graphics that I've done, just let me know.

What can I say? I love the Palisades line and what you've done with it is amazing!

Yes it is. And Dave does do the voice of Figment now.

Are you talking about J3h? I've seen his stuff too.

I will... eventually. I was thinking about making a bank robber Kermit out of a tuxedo Kermit (to go with Patrol Bear) so I might have that to show also.

Hey Dearth,

Have you ever thought about posting all your custom and diorama pics at once? I know I (and probably everyone else) would want to see your work side by side.

I'll have to see about doing that one of these days... can't be done the way it's currently set up, and some of my backdrops are in storage at the moment.

Trying to figure out a spot in my tiny house which would be large enough to pose everything side by side, and yet still be able to move far enough back with the camera to get it all in frame!

Hi everybody! I'm new to these forums, but I've been watchin them for ages. I've been wantin to join for ages and I always said I would post here first. Dearth, I luv your customs! I've been trying ( and struggling ) to collect Muppet figs for roughly 2 years. I havent got many. There all from ebay. Im hoping to have some luck in the buy sell and trade section in the coming weeks. I really want 2 make lots of customs, I have loads of ideas. But since I aint havin much luck with getting figures, my ideas are all on hold. Keep up the Customs Dearth.

Yours sincerely,

Ham Hock:flirt::flirt::flirt:

"Howdy, Ham Hock, this is Dirty Bird!"

Well, customizing the Muppets is addictive, as you can see. But it's actually more fun to customize in a line by a defunct company, since you know they'll never produce the very character you're toiling over. On the flip side, the price isn't as good as buying stuff off the shelf.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing cool creations from you!

Here's my latest backdrop, for displaying my Sesame Street bendems:

The artwork comes from the Count's Colorforms Castle set:
http://threads.rebelscum.com/imagep...hp?file=162426&imagewidth=648&imageheight=762

I scanned it and modified it (note the additional torch at left and the new mouth for the cat/fireplace):
http://threads.rebelscum.com/imagep...p?file=162425&imagewidth=1024&imageheight=528

Then I printed it out on adhesive paper, but accidentally sliced the very tip off my index finger while I was cutting the foamcore to which I affixed it.

Here's another shot of the bendems posed in front of it:
http://threads.rebelscum.com/imagep...p?file=162424&imagewidth=1024&imageheight=461

The Count figure doesn't come with a monocle, so that's digitally added to the finished photo.
