    1. C) Gary Burghoff played Radar in the film MASH and on the series. Carroll met Gary while doing an appearance on Hollywood Squares, and the rest is history.

    trick question! The only one of these Elmo appears in is "Me Caludius" but it's NOT Richard. Elmo has a third performer, Brian Muehl. Brian also originated Telly, Grungetta and a few others. When he left the series, Elmo went to Richard and then later Richard passed it on to Kevin Clash

    I have to correct myself on a few of my answers.
    11. d. Cowboy X is the one who leaves his mark all over the cowboy town.
    13. a. Little Murray Sparkles is Elizabeth's cat.
    14. b. The highest number the animated pinball segment counts up to is 12.
    16. d. Rusty is the only other muppet present when Big Bird goes to summer camp. These episodes were shown a couple of weeks ago on Noggin's presentation of Unpaved.

    Carroll Spinney had met actor Gary Burghoff and hit it off, so he had Big Bird name his teddy bear Radar, after Mr. Burghoff's character on "M*A*S*H".

    Phil Donahue appeared on this episode, brought about because the writers wanted to convey the idea that children *should* be believed.

    3. Kevin Clash was asked by Richard Hunt to perform Elmo. In which "Monsterpiece Theatre" skit does Richard perform Elmo?

    Actually, with this being a trick question, it may have not been Richard performing Elmo, but it sure wasn't Kevin Clash. The only reason I thought it was Richard was because part of "Me Claudius" was shown on the A & E Biography on "Sesame Street" just before Kevin mentioned how Richard pawned Elmo off on him, more or less.

    This was a rare case where a character from an animated segment, Cowboy X, was parlayed into a Muppet character (they used the lavender live-hands Anything Muppet for him). Big Bird requests Cowboy X's autograph, which is, of course, a big letter X.

    One of many classic segments involving Maria and David.

    And this is one of the more realistic Muppets, who doesn't talk or walk on two legs (unlike various frogs, dogs, bears, pigs, chickens, and whatever the heck Gonzo is). Little Murray Sparkles is very cat-like, and cute too!

    I'm assuming that Bert wanted to name his new four-legged friend after former Sesame Street writer Norman Stiles. In an unrelated story, Billy Crystal named the calf he helped birth in "City Slickers" Norman.

    Rusty sounded like he was voiced by Richard Hunt...in fact he talked a little bit like Gunge from "Fraggle Rock". Rusty was the lavender "rod" Anything Muppet, and didn't always want to engage in camp activities, but he did anyway.

    17. True or false: before his tenure on "Sesame Street", Bob McGrath was a teen idol in Japan.

    A. True

    As per his website, Bob was quite the superstar in Japan. WHen I told a friend this, he said "Next thing you'll tell me is that Gordon was a superstar in Korea!"

    And of course, Oscar and his pals watch him practice so they can laugh it up whenever he messes up.

    Mr. Hanford was a retired firefighter who was sick of being retired, so he assumed ownership of Hooper's Store before Alan took over.

    A. Susan, Bob and Maria (Loretta Long, Bob McGrath & Sonia Manzano)

    As mentioned, they're the ones who've stayed with the show the longest, but due to other commitments, Loretta Long's appearances are sporadic at best nowadays.

    Actually, I was wondering what happened to David. I know the actor, Northern Calloway died in real life. I didn't know whether or not it established what happened to him on the show. Well, by for now.

    As far as my knowledge goes, as I have never actually seen it, Gina told Big Bird that David went away to his grandmother's farm. I actually don't think it was that wise an idea to lie like that on Sesame Street. He should have actually told the truth. But it wasn't the same as when Mr. Hooper died, because in David's later years on the show, he was much fatter, and he was mentally retarded. From what I understand, he was running through the streets of NYC naked, and eating grass. So it wasn't nearly as sad as when Mr. Hooper died. Also, maybe, they didn't want to do that whole thing again.

    Actually, ssetta, the "naked in the streets of New York" incident happened about 10 years before his death, around 1980. Also, when they said David moved away to his grandmother's farm, it was not lying about Northern Calloway's death, since he was still alive when he left the show, and did not die until 1990, after the end of the 21st season (the premiere of which was when the gang received the letter from David saying that he had arrived at his grandmother's).
