Hi,

I've been a long-time lurker, following the boards for a while. I have really enjoyed seeing everyone's puppets so I thought I'd share some of mine.

I have a weekly webcomic called Gloomy Roomies. This week I also added a puppet show. It's currently on the front page of the site, but will soon move to the "video vault" section. Just thought I'd share. Thanks!

I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and post back! We should have another one up in mid-November.

I enjoyed it... was particularly tickled by the opening scene with the main character driving up to the house. It's little things like that which makes a project shine. Nice work.

Quick design question for you... Are the puppets based on the comic, or the comic based on the puppets? (I know, a very chicken or egg question!) Just interested in how you approached the concept.

design

Thanks for checking it out, Nojoy! I appreciate the kind words.

As far as the design approach, both the puppets and their comic counterparts were designed at the same time. I was building the puppets while working up a buffer of strips. Some of the things that worked for the puppets (like the sequin scales on the Creature character Gil) wouldn't work in my simple drawing style so some concessions were made to take advantage of the two formats.

GLOOMY ROOMIES Episode 2: The Ghoulia Horror Picture Show

I just wanted to announce that our newest episode is posted at the GLOOMY ROOMIES site. It's about 7 minutes long and is located under the comic strip on the main page. Our zombie and lagoon creature puppets get a bit more screen time. I feel that the characters' personalities came through a bit more now that the introductions are out of the way. If you're into Universal Monsters-esque things, you might dig it. Thanks!
