I just lost my job

    I just lost my job . . .

    Yeah...I--I'm still kinda in shock...

My boss called me from AL (I contract for an AL company here in KY), and he told me that "the government has decided to not fund that position". So I'm jobless. I have 2 weeks left, which means this ends right around my birthday.

And last year's birthday sucked cause my ex-roommate had moved out and left me in the lurch in our place (though he turned out to be a liar and irresponsible pathetic thing anyway), and I really hate to have 2 sucky ones in a row... :(

This is pretty scary, I tell ya. He said I could stay in the company if I found another openin' on their website somewhere in the country, but I haven't found anything just yet. And I'd rather not move, but hey---I'd do it for a good opportunity. Just for the record, in case anyone hears anything, I have a degree in English (Writing) and my first job out of school here was as a technical writer.

Y'all, I'm gonna need some prayers and support here. I have payments to make, and I can't make 'em much longer if I don't have any income....so not fun...

I'm gonna go look online and see if any thing comes up...

    *hopin' for the best*

    Hey Byron,

Sorry to hear that - life can be sucky sometimes but theres usually enough fun stuff in the end to make up for it.

Sorry to hear that, Buddy--I know that was a great job for you. You'll find something again soon, keep your freakishly gawky chin up. We still love you. Our couch folds out, if you need a place to stay.

But I don't think we have enough ketchup for you.

Everything will work together for your good.

    Mucho Love,

That's terrible, Byron. Please hang in there. Would it make you feel better if I pretend I like Care Bears for a while?

On the bright side of things...

Ok, I've been thinking about this, and some kind of good has to come out of this. So, I made up a little list...

--More time for Muppets. That can never be a bad thing, right?

--Time to travel. Think about it. You can go out exploring Outer Space and send us postcards.

Actually, that's pretty much my list. And it doesn't take care of things like money, paying for stuff, etc.

But I'll let you know if I can think of anything else to add to this list! :p

    Keep your chin up!

    Hey Byron,

I'm sorry to hear that man. It sounded like a good job you had there. But I'm sure something else will come up.

If not, come backpack in Australia for a while ;)

    Good luck man!

    Hi Byron,

Sorry to hear your news. The job situation seems to be tough all around these days and it's scary not knowing what's around the corner. Good luck and here's hoping you find something even better - in time for your birthday!

Hey y'all, thanks for your support, I really appreciate it. :)

Tuesday was pretty bad, but every day since has gotten a little bit better...I know that God has somethin' in store for me (hopefully an even more enjoyable career step), and I hold on to that faith that He has taken care of me. I am only a human and cannot see any results yet, and have to sometimes struggle to trust that I'm in His hands---and I know I am.

I have also been searchin' like crazy online for somethin'---and not just within my degree. I am applyin' for other writer positions, but I'm also goin' out for things I'm just plain interested in---photography and private investigating, to name two.

Sure, I may not get anywhere with those, but hey---you won't ever know unless you TRY! So try I am---the worst that can happen is that I won't hear back from somebody---and the best thing that could happen is that this could pay off! :D

So, thanks once again, and I'm pluggin' away with a good attitude...I believe somethin' good is gonna come my way...

So sorry to hear about this. You're definitely in my prayers.

Pardon my ignorance, but I thought you worked for a Disney Store? It sounds now like you were in some kind of technical writing position.

Hey Tom...I did work at a Disney Store, but I was forced to leave when I got this job.

Not forced by the Head Beagle of the store or anything, but forced because she needed me available more than I could have been---woulda been WAY too much on this guy!

But it's okay---I mean, we had SO many kiddie things and baby things, not much adult stuff or "classic" collectible things---the only things I miss are the discounts and most of the cast members! :D

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'll be on a new job hunt soon when I graduate this summer. Eeeek! I know it will work out okay, though - for both of us. Everybody seems to be constantly changing jobs these days so I wouldn't be too worried. Hope you find something soon.:) :)
