If there was a Muppet Appreciation week at Disneyland or WDW, who here would seriously go? They have these, or at least did for Star Wars...it would perhaps be the closest to a MuppetFest were likely to get again. Who knows if there is even a remote possibility of this(my nightmare senario would be that'd itd have just a bunch of workers dressed in giant Kermit and Piggy costumes, and be over kiddyfied) but one can dream right? Given 2005 is the 50th Annv of the Muppets, and the year Disney(I mean the Muppet Holding Company) is spose to bring the Muppets back to the limelight, it stands to reason.

They could quite easily get sweetums there since he is a part of muppetvision 3D as a walkaround character during the show. I was the only one in the theatre at the last show of the day since the electrical parade was on, and I had the choice to miss one or the other so I chose not missing muppetvision 3D I was talking to one of of the staff members who commented on my muppet shirt and I was asking him about his job and really hoping they might let me have a closer look at atleast the sweetums costume, but I guess it was wishful thinking.

Ooh they could easily host a Muppets weekend at Disney's California Adventure. That park does all kinds of stuff like that... like their Super Soap weekends, and the ABC weekends they had during the summer. Those are so fun for the fans! They always have the cast there for Q&As, autograph sessions, planned events, etc. With Disney owning the Muppets, and with the amount of Muppet exposure Disney's been putting out there, I'm betting we might see a Muppet weekend sometime in the next year!! Here's hoping anyway. :smile:

Those weekend deals are really great all around. Fun for the fans, and since everyone is there for the special events, the lines are really short on all the attractions for people who are just there to ride the rides.

With a Muppet weekend, they'd have to do a panel discussion and/or Q&A either on the stage they set up over Paradise Bay, or in the Hyperion theater, or one of the theaters in the Animation Building. I saw the Monkees perform on the Paradise Bay stage a couple summers ago as well as stars from the ABC weekend doing their Q&As there. Whose Line is it Anyway did a full house performance/taping in the Hyperion one summer also. There are also a couple of nice theaters inside the Animation building that would be excellent for smaller groups.

What with their past experience hosting these special weekends, not to mention Muppet Vision 3D being located there, I think DCA is an excellent location for a Muppet Festival.

What's your dream Muppets Weekends at the DLR?

What's your dream Muppets Weekend at the Disneyland Resort?

My dream Muppets Weekend would have events taking place over the course of three days.

Friday Night:

Check In to your room at one of the resort hotels:
* Disney's Grand Californian Hotel,
* Disneyland Hotel or
* Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel

Guests will find a fun Muppet Surprise Gift Basket awaiting them in their rooms with some essentials for their stay:

* Bottled Water with Muppets labels
* Miss Piggy towel for visits to the hotel pool
* Tube of sunscreen
* Pair of extra Kermit socks (http://laughingplacestore.com/images/products/2974L.jpg)

After settling in, guests will be invited to an Evening Reception in one of the hotel's smaller ballrooms. Set up for your pleasure, will be crudité, imported cheese and cracker displays, as well as your choice of beverage. Feel free to enjoy the hor devours, and get in line to purchase your event merchandise! Of course Disney has contracted to make available special Muppet Weekend Event Merchandise! For your perusal:

* Special Limited Edition Disneyland Resort's Muppet Weekend logo watch
* Muppet silver charm bracelet featuring Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Animal. Additional, more obscure character charms can be purchased seperately.
* Muppet Weekend CDR featuring instrumental songs from Muppet Vision 3D as well as a Muppet Vision 3D Attraction video.
* Muppet Weekend event pins
* Embroidered Muppet Weekend apparel, including t-shirts, hats, polos, and sweatshirts
* Various Muppet Lithographs
* Muppet set of 12 Greeting Cards
* Muppet Weekend event patches

All Event Merchandise will be wrapped in specially printed Muppet logo bags.

The event merchandise selection will also offer a Lottery. Each Muppet Weekend guest will receive a chance in a drawing, being held on the last night of the weekend. The prize being an actual, working Muppet Workshop puppet.

After visiting, socializing and meeting new Muppet friends and fans, its off to sleep after your first day of Disneyland Resort's Muppet Weekend.

Saturday

Go ahead and sleep in, you've got a long day ahead of you! The morning is yours to do with as you like, but be sure to meet the rest of the Muppet Weekend guests to check in for the afternoon's festivities.

Check In is inside Disney's California Adventure Park, outside of the Animation Building at 4:00 pm. Guests will be split into two smaller groups at this point.

In the Drawn to Animation theater, muppeteers will appear with several of their characters to perform and host a Question and Answer Session.

In the Animation Screening Room theater, guests will view vintage and obscure Muppet footage, as well as preview what is new and forthcoming from the Muppets in the next year.

After experiencing both theaters, everyone will meet back up for an Autograph Session in the Animation Courtyard. For your snacking pleasure there will be passed hor devours and a no host bar during the autograph session.

Once everyone is finished with autographs, the group will move across the Hollywood Pictures Backlot to the Muppet Vision 3D courtyard. As you enter the courtyard, some familiar faces will be there to greet you... the actual Kermit and Miss Piggy! They're live and in person, set up with a faux gazebo and garden backdrop. Off to another corner of the courtyard and the Swedish Chef has set up a kitchen backdrop as well. In a third corner, we see a faux Muppet Labs set with Beaker and Bunsen.

Everyone is escorted to their tables, seated in groups of 8. Each table is named for a different Muppet character, with a Plush doll as the centerpiece.

1. Kermit table (decorated with green linens and a Kermit collar for each guest to wear)
2. Miss Piggy table (decorated with pink and purple froo froo colors and a fluffy boa for each guest to wear)
3. Animal (bright pink, orange, loud colors)
4. Fozzie Bear (big floppy bows for everyone)
5. Gonzo (blues and browns with chicken feathers scattered about)
6. Sam Eagle (decorated in the very American red, white and blue)
7. Swedish Chef (blue and white striped table cloth with pink napkins, and a chef mustache/eyebrows set for every guest)
8. Beaker and Bunsen table (multi-colored test tubes around the centerpiece and a floofly Beaker-Hair headband for each guest)
etc....

Dinner will be plated entrees with a choice of Beef, Chicken or Fish (chosen in advance). Between courses, Muppet Labs will send their palate-cleansing raspberry sorbet. Each guest is served an individual size ice rainbow. Beneath each rainbow is a magical, glowing, color changing disc that lights the rainbow from the bottom. Dry ice is placed around the edges of the rainbow, giving the illusion of fog. When the fog clears, the color changing rainbow appears with a scoop of raspberry sorbet anchoring each end and acting as the "clouds".

During dinner, guests are escorted a few at a time to each of the Character Backdrops located around the Muppet Vision Courtyard. Everyone has a chance to interact with their favorite Muppets and a professional photographer is on hand to capture the moment. Before dessert, the photographers will come around with the newly developed photos for the guests to take home with them.

For Dessert several delicacies are offered, but the most popular choice is "Miss Piggy's Pearls". Miss Piggy's face is screened in chocolate on the porcelin plate, beside a white chocolate high heeled shoe. The "shoe" is filled with dark chocolate mousse, and a strand of white chocolate "pearls" cascades out of it, swirling around the plate, accented with red raspberries.

Before the night is through, there is a random contest. Each table has eight chairs. Each chair has a star on the bottom with a different Muppet's name printed across it. Whoever get's the star with their table's mascot on it, wins the centerpiece plush doll!

To cap out the evening, a guest is drawn at random to receive the actual, working, Muppet Workshop puppet to take home for their very own.

After filling their full bellies and much socializing with friends new and old, the group is escorted to their private viewing of Muppet Vision 3D, and then retires to their rooms for the evening. Upon entering your room, the first thing you notice is the table. Someone has left you a plate of milk and cookies, along with a fun, toy character puppet and autographed photo!

Better cuddle up with your Fozzie puppet and get to sleep soon. You'll want to be up bright and early tomorrow. :smile:

Sunday

Make sure you request a wake up call, because you need to be outside the Group Sales window at 8:00 am! Guests will assemble outside the entrance to Disneyland park at 8:00 am to check in.

At 8:30, the group will enter Disneyland Park together and head directly to the private Club 33 for their Exclusive Goodbye Breakfast.

Joining us at Club 33 once again will be the legendary Muppet performers. In addition to the scrambled eggs and bacon, they will share a few stories of their time with Henson Co.

Unfortunately, our Muppet Weekend has come to an end, but there's one more surprise in store: a crystal ornament, courtesy of Arribas Brothers. Each ornament is engraved with the Muppet Weekend logo, your name and the date.

One more hug and another "Kissy Kissy" and its off for home until the next Muppet Weekend at the Disneyland Resort! :smile:

That sounds great! You must have a great imagination to come up with all that just like that.

Another idea would just to open the muppetvision 3D building just for muppet fans for the weekend and have stalls selling muppet collectables and merchandise on the outside and in the muppet theatre have a private viewing of muppetvision 3D, a behind the scenes tour followed by a muppet marathon on the Muppetvision screen and the penguins could be removed from the orchestra pit to make way for muppet performers to allow them to perform a special muppet show live. Finally a question and answer/autograph session within the theatre with the performers.

For it to be worthy of any of us, it would have to be the Muppet performers and actual Muppets in attendance...just ahving teens in big goofy Kermit costumes and the walkaround Sweetums and Bear costumes wont do. Im not saying it has to be Victor or John Henson in an authentic Sweetums costume, but at least someone in the actual Sweetums suit. But eh, anything possible I guess...I really wouldnt be surprised if something like this came about sometime this year.
(my guess if there was an event, it would be by the summer time)
