Don't even remind me of that, this is a family forum. Suffice to say that one of my very very very bizarre aquaintances claimed "the green fairy" as his nickname, would act drunk and do things like jump in a public fountain or bang his head in a bowl of Nutella. Or worse.

Exactly. I doubt whatever you heard about the Green Fairy has anything to do with Alex's extremely odd behavior, but it is a subject I feel strongly on, since it completely humiliated me that I knew him, and I could never quite decide whether to laugh, ignore him, or to strongly disapprove.

It's a reference to the Absinthe fairy in Moulin Rouge, and was part of the whole spoof of that musical that was in IAVMMC.
