I've just finished a Hyena Puppet I've been building for the last 6 weeks. Its been great. I've expieremented with New Materials and Techniques I haven't used before. This is a custom build for a fellow who is starting a company and wants a puppet, and asked me to build it for him.

I used a combination of:
L200 Foam (my first time using it ever and the head is made of mostly this.)
Scott Foam (parts of head and hind legs)
and Polyfoam for the the body. I also tried several new stitches and used the original Antron Fleece as well as tested out Plasti-dip for the nose and bottom lip, and it turned out Great. Here are some pics!

It's puppeteered like the cows on Sesame Street, except it has live hands, hind legs, and a tail. He was built this way, because the buyer wanted the Hyena to crash through doors, but appear natural. I thought a puppet designed this way would work, but Also be a lot of Fun to build & perform.

All in All. It was $400 in Materials and 83 hours of work. All the spots were hand sewn, and most of the other areas of the body were as well.

That is one of the best puppets I've ever seen! Awesome work buddy, and great find on that "Fozzie" fur as well.

That guy must be HUGE!

Wow! Thanks guys!
It does feel great to have finished it and followed it through.
It is a large puppet. Its nearly 4ft long and is 2ft wide and 2ft tall.

I got the fur from http://www.mendels.com/fur1.shtml
its called furry shaggy cat or something similar. Its great, it has a very nice stretch and doesn't really get all over the place when you cut it.
