Might I say, I misread "cured" as "Cursed" and it made the father look quite a bit more confusingly nasty?

Update: enough donations have been provided to allow the girl and her family to go to Disney World, along with excess money going to a local charity that helps sick children go on similar trips. No mention or quote from the father on it, though.
