And both Emmet Otter and Fraggle Rock ARE Muppets, so again it's silly for them to make any distinction...especially when the Sesame Street characters are still legally called "Muppets"

That's where I get confused, too. Disney bought the rights to everything "Muppets," so unless they are calling that particular "style" of puppet Muppet and it's now going to be a word embedded in the slights of the American idiom, I don't know why everyone else gets to use it (ie, JHC and SW).
