Rainbow Connection

I was watching rage (Australian music channel) and saw this song Rainbow Connection with Kermit singing and playing the banjo.I was wondering when was this song released?And does anyone else like that song?
I certainly do remember that this song was used in one of their movies(can't remember which movie it was).

Raibow Connection came out in the first muppet movie, ironically called The Muppet Movie way back in 1979. It was also nominated for best song at the 1980 Academy Awards.

Man would I have liked to go back to that time period to check out everything that was happenng close to 1980.

I know this post has not beenm used in a while but I am sitting at work with nothing to do and I started reading this post and when JaniceFerSure started quoting the song I got goose bumps all over and had to start singing it out loud. Thank God I have my own office.

It is just such a powerful song that still to this day will bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.
