Hello there!

My name is Preston, I just turned 31 years old on May 8th, and I love watching vintage Sesame Street clips on YouTube right now. The Sesame
Street nowadays is NOTHING like what it was when I was a child in the
early 1980s, or even the 1990s. I have high functioning autism, which
actually socially/emotionally puts me at the age of a 4-5 year old, but I
have managed to stay alive.lol. I LOVE Teletubbies, I think Teletubbies
is the best thing that ever came on TV, I have 11 Teletubbies backpacks (which in many cases are big backpacks meant for older children or even adults), and I love Care Bears. I didn't get interested into Care Bears though
until 2003, during the second revival. When the Care Bears first appeared
on TV, I was about 9 years old (in 1985), and at that time, I really didn't
CARE (speaking about CARE Bears.lol) for it. I have loved a lot of Jim
Henson stuff though like Fraggle Rock and Henson-esque TV shows like
Wimzie's House (1997-2000), which was done by the same company that
created Arthur (the show with Arthur the anteater, and his sister D.W.,
etc).the company was named CINAR, from Montreal, Canada.

Anyway, I wanted to request something. I have looked for this particular video on YouTube for the past year or so, for a very long time, and it has not shown up. The video dates from about 1980-82, and is maybe about 3
or 4 minutes long. Does anyone have this shoe repair video from one of the Sesame Street episodes from the 1980s? I know I might be asking you
to scratch your minds because it was from so long ago, but see if you
remember this.

From what I remember:

The little movie was about a 4 or 5 year old girl going to
a shoe repair store and getting her little shoes repaired.
Well I wouldn't say the shoes were little necessarily, because
a 5 year old's foot is actually not that small. But anyway,
she goes to this shoe repair store. I guess you could call the
repairman a shoemaker, but I am pretty sure he probably didn't
sell shoes. Maybe he did, but I'm guessing not. Back to what
I was saying, the preschooler goes to see this shoe repair
guy, and he repairs her shoes as she watches. I recall this
movie very clearly. It probably was about 3 minutes or so.
The shoe repair guy takes her shoes from her, removes some stuff from
the sole of her shoe, puts a new heel on her shoe, and gets
a hammer thing to pound some nails into her heel (and the little girl just
looks at him doing this, all this time, and she like gapes her mouth
open when she sees him putting the nails in the heel, as if she thought
the shoes were actually alive and that he was hurting them by doing that.lol.well you know how 4 and 5 year olds think.). So anyway he uses
a machine to round off the edge of heel, and then he returns it to her. And then the movie shows her putting back on her shoes, tieing it back together. It's funny I recall this 20 years later even everything about this episode on Sesame Street. I shouldn't call it an episode, it was actually a film within
an episode. I even remember what color the shoes were. They
were tie-lace shoes and were light orange to medium orange (a
very common color for shoes back at that time in the early
1980s; when I was a 3 year old toddler in 1979, I had a pair of shoes about the same color, orangey/burnt orange, and they too were tie lace shoes). I would guess the video to be from the early to mid 1980s, though I think it was more like 1980-1982, sometime around the time I was in kindergarten. Anyway, they were orangey or light brown, and the shoes had like three or four squares over near the bottom of the shoe, near the vamp, like at the edge of the saddle part of the shoe. It's funny I remember this episode, because I was only a little kid.
Funny how things stick in your mind for a quarter of a century!
I still even remember she wore a red dress I think.
I remember it clear as day, really. I've been trying to see
if anyone had it for a long time, but no one has posted this to
YouTube.

If anyone here has this video, please send it to me as a .flv file or a
windows media video file or whatever) via email (my email address is preston1632@yahoo.com) or send a note to my email if you decide
to actually put it onto YouTube. :excited:

Thanks a lot so much in advance and may the good memories of
Sesame Street from the 1980s live forever!

Warm regards
Preston from San Jose, CA, USA

I'm sure if someone know they'll tell you. Otherwise let's not keep asking over and over again. It gets annoying.
