Reception area vs. Backstage

I was thinking about Palisades upcoming backstage playset, as well as the backdrop that will come with Pops, and I got to wondering, how do these two areas fit together? Is it ever explained how Pops' area (in the beginning of the later episodes, where Pops greets the guest stars) connects to the backstage (where the stairs, dressing rooms, etc are)? I always just thought Pops' area was off to the left of backstage, but I could also see it being down near that back door (where Mark Hammil and Luke Skywalker switch places in the SW episode). Thoughts?

It's down the stairs near the 'exit' door in the back. Pops' reception is on the right. This was seen in the Tony Randall and Wally Boag episodes of the Muppet Show.
