Several Family Guy scenes always made me uncomfortable (for various reasons) as well:
-Stewie falling down the stairs, busting his head opened, and then throwing up
-The scene where Stewie gives birth from his NOSE after making some disgusting pregnancy ray
-Peter killing a beached whale with a fork lift
-The cutaway scene where Peter brutally stabs Yogi Bear right in front of
Boo-Boo
-The entirety of the episode Herpe, the Love Sore (except for the Electric Mayhem cutaway, I loved that of course)
-Peter (as the woodcutter from Little Red Riding Hood) sawing Brian (as the Big Bad Wolf) in half in a very graphic fashion
-Stewie singing You Needed Me by Anne Murray to Brian (Not because it's gross or offensive, actually the complete opposite. The scene always made me cry due to how a normally silly episode suddenly transitions into a sad story about a puppy being taken away from his family. Puppy Brian snuggling up to his mother gets to me every time)
-Brian talking to Stewie about how he's always wanted to kill himself when they are a stuck in a vault together (Again, it was a very unexpected tragic scene)
-Liam Neeson's intentionally offbeat cutaway about a soldier dying in the Civil War
-The episode where Jason Voorhees shows up during a cutaway joke and repeatedly gets stabbed by his own son
Okay, I would like to expand up this one. I recently re-watched season 12 of Family Guy because back when I was 13-15 years old, it was my favorite season of the show. I thought it would be fun to relive all the laughs and good memories but holy crap, I did not realize how dark and disturbing almost the entire season was. I can't believe that I forgot about some of those moments. Did my mind just block them out? Did I find them funny back then but now thanks to maturity, find them disturbing? I don't know, but I do know one thing. That season alone needs it's own "moments I found hard to watch list".
1. Peter accidentally cooking his children. This twisted scene showed Meg's severed head graphically exploded in the oven and Chris being cooked instead of the Thanksgiving turkey. Being someone who loves Happy Tree Friends, Wonder Showzen, and Garbage Pail Kids, I think it's safe to say that it's hard for cartoon gore to disturb me. This scene did just that.
2. Carter Pewterschmidt trying to run up an escalator at the mall and breaking his leg in the process. They even showed his bone cracking and everything. That bone cracking sound effect has always really grossed me out whenever I hear it so this definitely wasn't something I liked seeing.
3. The end of the episode "Grimm Job", where Peter went into Meg's room and we find out that she had HUNG HERSELF! Thank goodness, this show has no canon because otherwise this scene would be simply depressing.
4. The Home Alone parody where Kevin gets brutally shot by a group of robbers. Two robbers randomly breaking into a person's house while they are on vacation and shooting their son is the definition of adult fear. Which for those who don't know, TVTropes defines "adult fear" as a realistic, rational fear that would end up scaring the parents more than the kids. So instead of monsters, vampires, haunted houses, etc. that trope revolves more around things like a character from a show or movie losing their child (Will's disappearance from Stranger Things is a great example of that.)
5. In addition to the sudden obsession with death season 12 somehow developed, there was also a LOT of cringeworthy toilet humor in it as well. The most notable example being Meg popping a zit directly on to a bully's face. If that wasn't bad enough, we then watch him throw up for an extended amount of time and then his face proceeds to graphically melt in a parody of the infamous Indiana Jones scene.
6. Cleveland discovering the Peter has child pornography on his computer. This scene makes me skin crawl every time I think of it. How on Earth is discovering that the show's main protagonist enjoys child pornography considered funny in the slightest? I mean, if this were a villain character it would be shocking for them to make a joke about something as awful as child pornography. But Peter!? The guy we are supposed to root for, the supposed "good guy" of the franchise. Yeah, that is twisted, sick, wrong, disgusting, and everything but funny.
7. This scene isn't gross or scary but definitely caused me to worry a bit about the possibility of it affecting the lives of the actual viewers who had witnessed it. In this shocking cutaway, Peter walks into the room with a knife and asks Lois something along the lines of,
"Hey Lois, if I was gonna kill myself should I slit my wrist this way or this way?" all while making the hand motions and everything. Meg then shouts from the other room the right way for him to do it and Peter runs into the garage. WOW!? Did they just go there? Did they really just give their audience actual suicide tips? I was shocked when I first viewed this scene. Especially because earlier on in the SAME episode, they made a joke about how the majority of Family Guy viewers are teenagers. It's practically common knowledge nowadays that there is a very high suicide rate among teens. I just couldn't believe that anybody would think it's okay to air a suicide tutorial on a show aimed specifically towards the teenage emographic. Although I like the show, I will admit that Family Guy has made a few choices I don't particularly agree with over it's long run in terms of what content is appropriate and what isn't.
8. Peter showing eggnog down Carter's throat in a suggestive way. 'Nuff said.
9. Peter going around whipping random people to the tune of Devo's famous Whip It song.
10. The scene where Peter brutally kills a bunch of little ants. This gag especially bothers me because it reminds me of a horrible personal experience from may years ago. When I was like 2 or 3, I was just playing around in the garden and accidentally stepped on a slug. For days, I got depressed over this situation. I'm not a huge slug person but it doesn't matter what kind of animal it was, the thought I had taken the life of a living creature bothered me something awful. It literally took my years to get over this one. It no longer haunts me to this day, but this scene makes me cringe even more because it reminds me of what happened that fateful day and the many tears it caused me.
