Intertainer, the entertainment on demand broadband leader, and Sesame Workshop today announced a licensing deal that will bring the much-loved "Sesame Street" children's programs to video on demand (VOD). Intertainer will distribute the programs on both its cable and Internet Protocol (IP) platforms, giving users instant access to time-honored educational and entertaining family programming.
According to the deal, Intertainer will have the licensing rights to 21 half-hour Sesame Street episodes and specials, including "The Best of Kermit on Sesame Street," "Cookie Monster's Best Bites," "Getting Ready for School," "Learning to Share" and "The Great Numbers Game." "Sesame Street" programs are designed to prepare children for school by developing the whole child -- including cognitive, emotional, physical and social development.
"For over thirty years, 'Sesame Street' has been entertaining and enriching children with programs of unequalled caliber," said Intertainer CEO Jonathan Taplin. "These are programs that parents can trust wholeheartedly and we're very proud to offer them on demand to our digital cable and broadband customers."
"Sesame Workshop is committed to developing innovative and engaging educational children's content and delivering it in a variety of ways," said Paul Marcum, Sesame Workshop Vice President & General Manager, Interactive Media Group. "Video on demand is rapidly growing into a mass consumer entertainment medium. Intertainer is an excellent partner for VOD distribution because the company is uniquely positioned to deliver our content across multiple platforms."
