Did you know that there was an even EARILER pilot episode of Sesame Street broadcast in July 1969 (and not the famous one from November 1969 that is shown on Noggin and at the Museum of TV and Radio)?
CTW did 5 shows, broadcast them on a UHF station in Pennsylvania, and paid 100 familes 100 dollars each to watch them and critique them.
Only thing was that the humans did not participate with the Muppets, because child psychologists said that they shouldn't mix fantasy and reality.
Ernie and Bert were the only two Muppets on those first 5 test shows, and the basically the one redeeming factor.
The test shows also featured a DIFFERENT Gordon than Matt Robinson, there was no Oscar's can or Big Bird's doors, since there were no Muppets who lived on the Street.
