XERUS’S VOICE ARTIST FOCUS:

Today’s V/A focus is that British actor Tim Curry. Tim had appeared in movies like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clue, Home Alone 2, and Muppet Treasure Island where he played Long John Silver. As well as starring in plays like Spamalot and the Pirates of Penzance. Tim had a really great voice for cartoon characters, especially for strong voiced villains.

You know, I rarely have seen him play anything but a villain. He has that very ominus voice, but I really dug him as the foppish Nigel Thornberry. It would just be hillarious if he did more good guy voices, only if it's unexpected.

Orginally, Tim Curry was going to voice The Joker in Batman the Animated Series. But then they thought Tim's voice was way too scary for the Joker. So they gave the role to Mark Hamill instead.

I think my favorite Tim Curry voices are a tie between Rex Pester (which is a perfect satire of most newscasters) and Hexxus. My favorite role of his, period, is obviously Frank N. Furter from RHPS, and out of all his voice work, Hexxus is probably the closest he came to equaling the overt sleaziness and sexuality of Frank.
