We've lost another icon.

(removes fedora with press card tucked in the brim, and holds it over heart)

Rest in peace, Walter, and may you deliver the latest breaking reports from that news desk up in the sky.

Rest well, Walter Cronkite, and thanks for the news.

And to all the news stations with their biases (both liberal and conservative) and fluff news...shame on you tonight! Walter would not approve.

Not only have we lost a legend, but his vision seems to be all but dissolved. News corporations owned by rich people who want to influence the country with loud mouth bullies, mindless celebrity worship... and worst of all cutesty wootsy alliterative and or pun names for news stories, each with a cute little graphic logo and theme song.... these dominate the feild now-a-days in our noise junky culture. We love these bullies telling us what to think, we love these bimbos squeaking out horror stories with oh so perky voices and funny graphics and titles... we need to know about people who are only famous because they're famous for being famous.

Humble Cronkite asked tough questions... he was there for the best and worst moments of our nation... he introduced us to the Beatles, the biggest band in history. He questioned the Vietnam war when Johnson was still in office, causing Johnson to not seek re-election. Something unheard of these days with various venomous pundits emasculating the country into supporting a certain war we're stuck with now.
