I live in lame boring anytown USA suburbia, but in the past couple weeks I've talked/met so many cute college aged girls just out in about running errands/school/etc wearing various Muppet shirts(or hats/other garments) Sure, nothing has come of it thus far but I realize for a lot of guys on here that might be a bit shy/not have a way to meet similarly wavelengthed girls in their area, great way to meet girls or just cool people in general.

This pretty much works vice versa, or at least it has for me. Lot of guys have approached me to compliment me on my shirt(s).

I've gotten some compliments on my Fraggle Rock t-shirt, and it is nice to see that other people know what it is. However, the one item of clothing that I one that gets the most comments is my The Angry Beavers shirt. Had no idea how popular that show still was.

I get compliments on my t-shirts and things, but that's all it ever amounts to....

LOL, I actually met one of my friends because one day, out of the blue, he came up to me and complimented me on my prized Bunsen and Beaker "I <3 Nerds" shirt, and it just took off from there. :D

I kind of remember that show. For me, it's the Rocko shirt I have. And back in the day, when it wasn't as hot topic saturated, invader zim shirts

Heh, I should have put "people" instead of girls. I just know that within more niche subgenres and fandom a lot of guys mention having problems of feeling too shy to approach women. But indeed, it's almost a sort of immediate litmus test or barometer...you can instantly tell who is cool by their reaction. (though sadly, I have met some sourpuss pretentious hipster girls who claimed to be muppet fans) I dont trust anyone who says they dont like, or worse "hate" the muppets.

I've gotten the occasional girl/guy telling me that they "totally dig" Muppets when I wear my Muppet stuff. It's funny, people have actually tried to out knowledge me when it comes to Muppets since the new movie came out (one girl, in particular, tried yesterday, but when she couldn't answer my "Who's Bill Barretta?" question I put her in her place).

But, yeah! Lots of positive attention by wearing Muppet stuff. I had a really pleasant conversation with a sales clerk at Sam Goody when I was Xmas shopping last weekend who'd seen the movie twice and we bonded over the fact that we weren't sure how we felt about Chris Cooper's rap. And when I bought my Gonzo footie PJs from Spencer's the guy at the counter was really enthused and told me I was awesome. :D

That's is wonderful to hear Puckrox!

I became a Muppet and Jim Henson fan when I was 5 and everyday, or just about everyday I would wear some sort of clothing featuring the Muppets and sometimes bring one of my plush or Muppet puppets with me, a Muppet folder, etc. to school. I almost always had my prized Kermit watch on.

In fact my 2 best friends and I would make our own personal fan magazine titled "JBJ" which stood for Brad, Jeff and myself Jonathan. We would all contribute articles, drawings and homemade puzzle games and trivia. The fan magazine featured the things we loved such as Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones and the Muppets! I was always in charge of the Muppet sections as I was the BIGGEST Muppet fan amongst us. We would make copies and give them out for free to our classmates in elementary school once every 2 weeks. I remeber the girls always seemd to love my Muppet section and would color the Muppet drawings and work on my Muppet crossword puzzles. :)

We also produced and performed puppet shows for the school and also contribute to the talent shows. I would build my own puppets that had a Muppet style, create voices and put on shows. Teachers and school mates loved it and eventually this earned us the ability to host the talent shows with our puppets and my Kermit puppet. I have always been able to do the Jim Henson Kermit voice very well. I altered my 70's Kermit puppet and added legs and made a custom tuxedo for him. We built a podium that I could hide behind and perform Kermit. I also had Kermit perform "Happy Feet". I was behind the curtain, Kermit was out dancing and singing and I made rods for his hands and feet. I was AWESOME! lol :D I later went on to join a puppet group in Dallas!

But to this day, I still waer Muppet t-shirts and always look for new and old Muppet merchandise to add to my extensive collection that I started back when I was 5 or 6.

    Happy Muppet Day to ALL!

Heh, people trying to out Muppet knowledge an MC'er. Yeahhh. The only person I've met in person(non JHC/Muppet employee) who could trivia me was DW Mckim and Frogboy.

But it's nice to know people feel that strongly. I remember last fall there was a girl who had kind of a thing for me, and I kinda dug her. But when she revealed she "hated" the muppets, I slowly backed away from that situation. I absolutely cannot be with someone who doesnt well with giddy joy at the mere sight or mention of Jim Henson's creations.

    Whoah, Sam Goody still exists?

Strangely even as a crazy Muppet kid in the 1980's, I never had any Muppet shirts or saw any...tho I probably woulda gotten picked on even more. I did have a Fraggle Rock lunchbox!

In the late 70's and early 80's the popoular t-shirts were the ones that had those "iron on" type art on them. I had one w/ the Muppet Show logo and another w/ Kermits face on it. Loved them! I also had 2 diferent Muppet lunch boxes, 1 Dark Crystal lunch box that I proudly represented!

    Long Live the Muppets!

Ahhhh! Sam Goody! I think there is still one here in the Dallas area.

What I wouldn't give to go back to the 1980's...specifically the mid to late 80's!

Hahah! People try to to that to me too. And I'm like, seriously? I give them one obscure fact and they're done. I win. You lose. K bye. :)

I also get a lot of compliments on my Muppet shirts. I have one shirt that has several Muppets on it and people like to point out their favorites. Hahaha. I get a lot of compliments on my other character shirts too.

I've gotten compliments about my Miss Piggy, and Pigs in Space apparel, and merchandise. My then boyfriend bought me a Janice Vinylmation last April after I lost my Dr. Teeth one; he was hoping for me to get First Mate Piggy after he bought it. xP

Er...are we living in the same dimension?? Nuclear arms race, "Day After" paranoia rampant, homeless Vietnam vets, AIDS, cocaine, rampant blatant conspicuous consumption, Reaganomics and "trickle-down" theory, Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, the rise of Saturday morning toy comemrcials disguised as kids' programming... uh. Yeah. LOTS to love.

Well since 2002 companies at the mall and all over have tried to capitalize on "80's geek chic", but NONE of them can get it right. Ive never seen an accurate represenation of 80's culture, vibe, music, fashion, etc in the modern era. Theres a certain magic that cannot be reproduced from the 1981-1990 period.

Nice! Yeah I can't see how people can date non muppet fans. If I had a girlfriend I'd have to spoil her with all manner of muppety goodness
