Well, I don't work on live puppet shows hardly at all but the kit was originally put together years ago for taking to video shoots or when I used to work on projects in the U.S. The idea was basically have a portable "workshop in a box" that was packed and ready to go whenever it was needed. I don't use it that much these days and don't even have it with me, it's back home in storage.

Before I started in puppetry I worked as a P.A. in the film and TV industry and I got the idea for the kit from a really nice art director who had a similar one that was sort of an "art department in a box" he brought to commercials.

The water bottle is just a used 500ml plastic bottle that used for transporting water and/or something to hold brushes in while they're being used so they don't dry out.

While I've made 2 or 3 puppets, I haven't really done any performances with them. I usually try to keep a small sewing kit around for emergency repairs, but mostly my supplies are all in my craft room at home.

I don't really think you need that much stuff in a repair kit. I'm just insane. For example, I toured for years with a big show that had a couple hundred puppets and props and all they carried in their kit was:

- Basic sewing kit
- White, black, red, yellow and green paint
- Gaff tape (lots)
- Super 77 spray glue
- Contact cement
- Paint Brushes

I suppose it really depends on the show and the types of puppets you use.

Good lists and Buck, as always, full of knowledge and wisdom. I carry most of what biblebetty carries so I don't have anything to add other than double-stick tape and sticky velcro dots. The obvious reason for both is well...obvious, but the velcro dots has a funny story behind it.

We were doing a show and one of the puppets eyes had felt dots for pupils attached with contact cement. During one of the transitions in the skit, the puppet lost a pupil. I quickly grabbed a pair of velcro dots, ripped off the other pupil and replaced the now missing pupil with the velcro dots. The puppet looked like it had just returned from the optometrist or was hopped up on goof-balls or something. The audience, of course, noticed the whole "transpirings that were afoot". The good thing is that the result was funny.

I have since stopped using felt for pupils.
