What is the most funniest moment you've ever seen on Sesame Street?

I saw a youtube video of Count Von Count counting up to 20 with the honkers, and near the end, the one on the left side of the screen wants the count to honk his "honker". He tries it, but ends up crunching it, and this is the funny part: **CRUNCH!!!** (Ow!) (Count von Count looks at the camera, and says "That's one "Ow!"") I had to laugh at this little skit.

Wow. That's the kind of question like naming which song by your most-loved band is your favorite...and where tons of even better answers creep into your head after typing your initial answer. But one of the moments that gets me giggling even thinking about it is the B&E (and Oscar) chocolate ice cream sketch where Ernie tries to pass a banana off as Bert's dessert responding to Bert's criticisms by "fixing" the banana such as mushing it with a fork and adding ice cubes to make it cold...and Bert's reaction when Ernie pours gravy over it just brings tears to my eyes typing about it.

My mother has told me time and time again when I was a baby, I would practically laugh until I couldn't breathe at the classic Ernie and Bert "Heeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeee FISHY-FISHY-FISHY!" *PLOP*

Telly constantly smacking Elmo in the mush with his "Happy caps."

Someone put that online or on iTunes or something! I need to see that one again.

Some of the funniest moments from Sesame Street come from the Don Music skits, especially when he rewrites "Mary Had a Little Lamb". While Kermit helps with getting new lyrics, Don at one point shouts, "BUT CANARIES AREN'T BLUE!!!" That line gets me and my brother laughing almost every time. Of course, whenever he bangs his head on the piano keys is always funny.

Ernie and Bert skits are funny, too. My favorite one is the rhyming game, when Bert shouts, "Hippopotamus!!" and Ernie thinks for a second and says "Rippatotapus" (or something like that. I don't know if that's how you spell it). and the mistake that Bert makes, when Bert says "I don't want to do it anymore", Ernie starts to say something after Bert, but Bert completes his sentence then Ernie says."What, what, hmm?" That's what funny about the Ernie and Bert skits, they're always so spontaneous!

Isn't this the one where at one point Ernie stops the game, but Bert decides to continue, and goes up to a lamp shade, and says "Hey there lamp, that's a nice shade!"?

This is a good classic skit right there! :)

That's the one...and that was always my fave part of the sketch...if you're ever in a class or a room with someone you know is a Muppet fan, if you just randomly throw out that line, i guarantee you'll have them in hysterics.

When I first heard "Hey there lamp, that's a nice shade!" I had to laugh, because I was like "What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"

Yeah. I often thought about that. If Bert thought that the lamp was really going to respond... Well, I guess that makes sense since they have shown talking fruits and vegetables and all that jazz before so you never know.

You know what? "Hey there lamp! That's a nice shade!" was so random!

I always thought Bert started "rhyming" with the lamp because he got so into the game that he couldn't stop and got carried away... btw that is one of my fave Ernie and Bert sketches, too :)

I also love that one skit where Ernistine came to visit, so she's in that chair, and Ernie is trying to make Ernistine say "Ernie", and eventually, Bert comes in, and says "Hi Ernie! I'm Home!", Ernistine then looks at Bert (or Ernie) and says "BERT!!!!!" Now that's classic!

Almost any of the old Bert and Ernie sketches are laugh-your-rear-off funny; my Top 3 would be these--

    1. Ernie bathing with an assortment of non-bath-related objects, which he rationalizes with bizarre "just in case" scenarios...and Bert looking flabbergasted when everything happens as Ernie predicts. My family can still quote this one verbatim on cue!
    2. Ernie breaking the cookie jar, moving the cookies to the sugar bowl, and so on until he puts the goldfish in Bert's cowboy hat; when Bert asks what he'll wear to play cowboy, Ernie plops a cooking pot onto his friend's head.
    3. Ernie keeping a cookie nearby to remind him of circles, which remind him of squares, which remind him of a checkerboard, and so on until he's reminded of the alarm clock ringing...which tells Ernie when it's time to eat the cookie.
It's moments like these that tempt me to invoke "Ernie Logic" when someone goes off on a string of free-associating tangents. :p

Other than the Bert and Ernie sketches, my nominee for Sesame Street's funniest moment is Joey's infamous alphabet sketch with Kermit. I still chuckle at the thought of Joey teasing poor Jim Henson with "Cookie Monster" half a dozen times...and winning Kermit's heart back with "I love you" after he threatens to leave.

Now this skit is a wonderful example of how hilarious things can become on SS without anyone knowing about it ahead of time!

Know what else I loved? That myopic plasticine chair that kept bumping into things and saying "Oh, Excuse me!"

Man, me and my cousin used to imitate that cartoon all the time when we were little.

Then there was the time Elmo's World froze on screen and Elmo was laughing on a continuous loop and I didn't even realize anything was wrong for about a minute.

You can tell strange things make me laugh, right?

I also loved all of those E&B sketches, especially the rhyming game one. That "Hey there lamp" line and when Ernie accidentally said Bert's part and then said "You what what hmmm?" and they took it from there was priceless. Same goes for the Ernie and Ernestine sketch when Ernestine says "BERT!"

One favorite street part I can think of right now was on Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, when Oscar's singing "I Hate Christmas" and he rips the E and L off of Mr Hooper's string of letters spelling "NOEL", making it spell "NO". Unlike Oscar, I love Christmas, but I loved that part, as well as the expression on Mr. Hooper's face.

Did you see the claymation skit for Arnold who had a large imagination (who would later have his own TV cartoon on Nickelodeon)? It was a strange bit, but funny indeed

I loved the one with that singer singing "EXIT" then he couldn't figure out how to leave the room
