Can someone else please Google "Supreme FTP" and comment on what is happening here. I won't post a link because of what "FTP" apparently stands for.

Now, we all know Supreme as the skater clothing line that occasionally rocks Kermit's face. Maybe it's my imagination,... or maybe these clothes are counterfeit. I really don't want Kermit associated with this clothing line if these FTP shirts are real. Is this something that everybody already knew about? I am usually late when it comes to this kind of thing, but ... should this be acceptable?

I thought FTP was the process of uploading a file or document from your hard-drive to the internet?

Add "clothing" to your search. The web is a vast place but I searched for "supreme clothing ftp" (after seeing the first results and do so without the quotes) and got the hits you were looking for I suspect. (For me FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is how I upload stuff to various web sites.)

The internet is a huge place and search results will yield all sorts of stuff you probably don't want to see. There isn't much that can be done about this other than having the Supreme Clothing people do a bit of search engine marketing and optimization.

Aww...I wouldn't worry too much about it. If Kermit's gunna get involved with a "surfer" attitude type clothing company that doesn't mean that he is affiliated with everything they do...it's more a case of their having his face on their t-shirts.

And if they then go ahead and have "F.T.P." t-shirts sold in the same store...that doesn't effect Kermit's image.

It's kinda (ish) like saying someone doesn't approve of a Muppet Movie being on the same shelf in a store as Mighty Morphing Power Rangers The Movie (just with more swear words :stick_out_tongue:).

… It’ s nothing like that. A better analogy would be …. Oh say…. a company that uses Kermit’s image and public appeal to sell products, only to make a mockery of everything he stands for several months later *I say as I hang this lampshade*

Okay, maybe “abiding by laws” isn’t EVERYTHING Kermit stands for, but it’s gotta be one of ‘em.

A better analogy would be Disney using a production company that is also involved with producing pornography. And if this production company had a store,.. well what kind of videos might end up on the same shelf then?

Ahh...ok, I see the problem.

However, as I see it, the expression F.T.P. in it's full sense isn't really meant to be taken literally. It's more like, "I am me. No one can stop me. Down with the norm!" Maybe I am wrong.

but, what a way to say it, eh? I've heard a lot of rappers use FTP in song lyrics, so I guess I incorporated it with the Stop Snitchin' movement, which I also disapprove of. They are probably two separate campaigns entirely. Still, both are offensive ...at least to me.

lol, just call me Sam :attitude:

Hmm. I'm trying to figure out who exactly this "Kermit Amadeus" is? I think Kermit the Frog was chosen as a Supreme skateboard company advertising spokesfrog because he and this Amadeus fellow have the same first name (however it appears Kermit Amadeus is an alias and not a born/given name). It seems that Kermit Amadeus is the one saying disparaging things about the police. Kermit the Frog is associated with some of the company's advertising so Disney might not look kindly on that.

In my life I have encountered good police officers and bad police officers just as I have encountered good and bad people of every sort. These shirts really don't do much but stir the pot and create confrontation. A person would have to be pretty brave or pretty stupid to ever wear one - especially a skateboarder. Skating is largely illegal everywhere, but cops often let rogue skaters off with verbal warnings. That is less likely if the skater is sporting an FTP shirt.

I don't think there's a problem unless Kermit the Frog is printed on one of these FTP items or that particular slogan becomes the company's mantra. Personally I liked this Supreme account. I even have a Kermit Supreme figure. I just hope this FTP thing fades away on its own. What some suburban white bread kids will wear to pose as a hip hop urban thug. Ridiculous.

I agree with that. If Kermit were to appear on a shirt with that phrase, that would be horrific!

Think of it more like this: Disney owns the Muppet. They also own Touchstone Pictures. Actually, Touchstone IS Disney. It's just the name they use for releasing more adult-themed films. Through Touchstone, Disney has released SEVERAL R-rated films, and films with material that Kermit shouldn't really be associated with.

That doesn't make Supreme's FTP shirts right, but it doesn't make Supreme's Kermit shirt wrong, either.
