Trying to work out what is gong on from the MP3 I have of this song is like banging my head against a coconut, with or without a lime in it.

Can someone tell be what is happening in this song, who is singing it and anything else I should know about it...

Bye,
Beau

Next week on 'Banging Your Head on a CocoNut': What the heck is the banana sketch?

If my assumption is correct, it's from The Muppet Show, and Kermit is in a hospital, singing it, while the nurses and then doctor join in, as well. Progressively, the hospital and its employees become more and more jungle-like. Eventually, they are in an actual jungle, surrounded by animals. In the end, everything seems back to normal for the final "If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do", from the doctor. Then, jungle animals appear from different places, around the hospital room. That's it, unless the Muppets did the song, more than once. Hope this helped. Take care.

I believe that Homer Simpson once sang a parody called "Beer in the Coconut"-

Homer: (Sings) You put da beer in the coconut and then ya throw the can away!
(Tosses can over fence where it hits Ned in the head.)
Ned: HOMER!
Homer: You throw the can away....(Repeats the same thing.)

I personally liked the "Muppets Tonight" with Whoopi and the Reggae Rats singing
"No Woman, No Cry", especially when they keep singing it fast.

It's a Harry Nilsson song and "putting the lime in the coconut" is a drug reference. You figure the rest out. =)

If you listen to the song;

She put the lime in the coconut she drank it all up
She called the doctor and woke him up,

Said, Doctor ain't there nothing I can take,
I said doctor, to relieve this bellyache.

I imagine I would get sick as well.

Makes sense. Seems like it would be nasty. Try mixing Mustard and Buttermilk next time you need to throw up. :grouchy:

So, what's the drug reference??

It's also at the end of 'Reservoir Dogs' when everyone is dead.

Which is no help at all.

But Harry Nilsson was great.
